Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell will be going up against each other in the 2026 WNBA All-Star Game on Saturday night. The Indiana Fever teammates have been drafted on separate teams. Clark, along with Aliyah Boston, is on Team Spoon, while Mitchell will suit up for Team Coop.

Indiana’s All-Star trio has been the driving force for their success this season. Clark and Mitchell, in particular, have held the keys to head coach Stephanie White’s offense. It goes without saying that these two will need to be at their very best if they want to lead the Fever to a championship this season.

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark comments on Kelsey Mitchell’s side gig

Clark and Co. faced the press on Friday as part of their media availability for the All-Star festivities. When asked about one thing she thinks people don’t know about Mitchell, Clark shared how impressed she is with her teammate’s decision to pursue a PhD.

“Kelsey just got her PhD. Well, she’s almost done,” Clark said. “It’s actually really funny. We’ll be in there literally 90 minutes until tip, and Kelsey’s on her laptop typing a paper. Then she goes and drops 30. That’s the craziest part of all of it. She’s literally doing schoolwork and then goes and drops 30 on everybody. That’s pretty incredible.

“I always start laughing when I walk past her locker. Even after a game when she had like 35 versus the Aces, when we beat the Aces the second time on our road trip. She had one of her best games of the season. She’s been incredible, but she whips out her laptop and starts doing an assignment right when the game ends.

“I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s incredible.”

In 2020, Mitchell earned her master’s degree in Sports Administration from the University of Cincinnati. She is now pursuing a PhD in Educational Leadership through an online program at Liberty University. She is doing all that while terrorizing the WNBA as one of the best players in the league.

Mitchell is currently averaging a team-high 23.3 points per game, with 1.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.7 triples.
