Chicago White Sox: Tristan Peters makes MLB history with cycle vs Athletics
Friday night saw the Chicago White Sox return to their winning ways. After being swept by the Boston Red Sox during the week, they exercised some demons by demolishing the Athletics by the score of 14-1.
The game marked the return of Munetaka Murakami after over a month spent on the injured list. He had previously suffered a strained hamstring in late May. He was 1-5 with an RBI and run scored in his return.
But the star of the night was rookie centerfielder Tristan Peters, who did something never before seen in the history of Major League Baseball.

Peters went 4-4 on Friday night. He hit for the cycle with those four hits, which is an impressive feat in and of itself. But what made his performance historic is that no rookie hitting ninth in the batting order had ever done that:

Peters is now hitting .303/.357/.484 with six home runs, 45 RBI, and five stolen bases this season. He is the seventh player in White Sox history to hit for the cycle, and the first since Jose Abreu did it back in 2017.
Every other player who hit for the cycle in franchise history did so between 1901-1922.

Peters’ contract was purchased by Chicago in December of 2025 from the Tampa Bay Rays, who had previously acquired him via trade from the San Francisco Giants. They had received him a trade from the Milwaukee Brewers, who originally drafted him in the seventh round of the 2021 MLB amatuer draft.
