The WNBA MVP race continues to heat up, with Indiana Fever stars Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell among the favorites to win it. Many have shared their honest takes on who deserves it the most, including Lexie Hull.

Clark and Mitchell are on historic runs, breaking records individually and as a duo. The third-year star recorded her career high in points and three-pointers made in the past month, and is third in scoring and first in the assists in the league. Clark is coming off a huge performance against the Chicago Sky on Sunday. She posted 37 points, three rebounds, 10 assists and a career-high eight triples in the 113-90 win.

Mitchell is also setting new marks. She has scored 20-plus points in 23 consecutive regular-season games. It’s a new WNBA record, passing A’ja Wilson’s previous mark. The four-time All-Star is second in the league in scoring at 24.8 points per game.

Indiana Fever: Lexie Hull discusses who between Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell deserves the MVP award

Hull spoke to reporters ahead of Thursday’s practice. She made it clear that she believes both her teammates deserve the honor.

“I think any of them deserve it, for sure,” Hull said. “And I think for us, it just shows the success of our team. I think all of them can tell you like they’re just such big team players. They’ll do whatever that we need from them for our team to win. And it’s showing up on the stat sheet for sure. So just I’m excited for those end of season awards… And I think that the city will be so happy. Our fans will be so proud. So regardless, we’re proud of them.”

Clark and Mitchell have made strong cases; however, Wilson and Olivia Miles remain the favorites on the WNBA’s MVP ladder. The last five games could swing the result to either of them, but the backcourt duo likely prefers team success than individual honors.

Meanwhile, Hull has been a steady contributor for Indiana. She is averaging 5.3 points and 3.1 rebounds. However, what the stat sheets don’t show is her off-ball movement and ability to knock down timely baskets. The veteran guard will continue to be relied upon for her energy and contributions, especially in the playoffs.
