Sophie Cunningham announces move outside Indiana Fever
Sophie Cunningham and the Indiana Fever are gearing up for the start of the playoffs. They finished the regular season with a 28-16 record and clinched the No. 6 seed. She also announced a move outside the team on Friday on social media.
The veteran guard struggled in the regular-season finale on Thursday against the Minnesota Lynx. She finished with 0 points on 0-of-4 shooting and just two rebounds. Only Kelsey Mitchell scored in double digits for Indiana with 10, with Grace VanSlooten backing her with nine points and two rebounds. Caitlin Clark had on off night, recording two points on 1-of-12 shooting in the 86-66 loss.
Cunningham’s production will be key to the team’s playoff success. Her versatility, particularly on defense, along with her ability to knock down timely baskets are two of the Fever’s biggest weapons.

The Fever will take on the No. 3-seeded Las Vegas Aces in the first round. Cunningham and Co. also won’t have homecourt advantage against the defending champions. The team has a formidable lineup led by Mitchell, Clark and Aliyah Boston, which could be enough to pull off an upset. Fans will closely monitor the matchup, which is expected to draw high viewership. Game 1 is set for Sunday at 4 p.m. ET at Michelob Ultra Arena.
