Angel Reese, Atlanta Dream set WNBA Finals record before Game 1
The WNBA Finals will begin on Saturday at Chase Center in San Francisco. However, Angel Reese the Atlanta Dream have already set a new finals record ahead of Game 1.
The team reached the championship series after going undefeated in the first two rounds. Reese and Co. eliminated the Washington Mystics in two games before sweeping the New York Liberty in the semifinals. She has also broken several league records this season and earned her first Defensive Player of the Year award.
Atlanta will compete against the Golden State Valkyries for the title. The No. 2-seeded team are fresh off a sweep over the defending champions, the Las Vegas Aces. Gabby Williams, Cecilia Zandalasini and Janell Salaun will lead their charge versus the Dream’s Big 3 of Reese, Rhyne Howard and Jordin Canada.

The first two games of the finals will be played at Chase Center before the series shifts to Atlanta for Games 3 and 4. State Farm Arena will host both, and ticket prices continue to soar. Game 3 next Wednesday is already the most expensive finals game in WNBA history, with an average ticket price of $494.

It also marks the first finals game Reese will play at home, giving fans more reason to purchase tickets. The Dream reached the championship round for the first time since 2013 and are aiming to win their maiden title.
Reese’s effect continues to be felt since she landed with Atlanta in April via a trade from the Chicago Sky. She has been a game changer and proving that the franchise made the right decision to acquire her services.
