Chicago Bears trade for All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons in blockbuster move
As Week 8 nears, the NFL trade deadline also approaches, as many teams across the league scramble in an attempt to make a playoff push. Some huge names have hit the market over the past few days.
And, as of just a few moments ago, the Chicago Bears have made a big splash.
On X, Ian Rapoport reported that the Bears have acquired All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons from the Tennessee Titans. The compensation will include multiple first-round picks, and the Bears now have an elite defensive player.

Simmons, 29, will now become a huge part of a playoff push, a massive change from his old situation in Tennessee. Simmons has racked up 46.5 sacks and 72 tackles for loss over his eight-year career. He was the key cog on an otherwise poor defense and has remained an elite player at his position since entering the league in 2019.
Ryan Poles has delivered in a big way, even if he gave up some legit draft capital.

Jeffery Simmons was one of the biggest names available during the trade deadline, and the Chicago Bears went out and got him.
Did they overpay? In my humble opinion, no. Simmons is an elite piece for the future, not just this year. He’ll immediately change the pass rush and improve their run defense, as coordinator Dennis Allen must be thrilled with the move.

It’s unclear whether Simmons will be ready for Monday night’s battle with Seattle, but they could sure use him.
The Bears will acquire Simmons on a 5-year deal with $124M remaining, including practical guarantees through 2029. Tennessee will take on dead cap hits of $14.1M this season and $21.2M for 2027. An expensive, yet important get for this Chicago defense.
