The Milwaukee Brewers are certainly deserving champions. I’m happy for their fans. I was hoping for a lengthier Series and five games feels like a letdown. The games were good, with Game Four being especially epic, but the Rays needed to pull off another win. Alas, the Brewers had it all working for them this postseason and could not be denied. The final game of the season is always sad for me as I don’t follow other sports and can’t wait for Spring Training.
It’s too bad MLB has sold its soul to the gamblers. I’ve had enough of Polymarket and Kalshi to last the rest of my life. Hey—it’s not a bet, it’s a futures contract! I can’t believe they get away with that shit. FanDuel is the official sports betting partner of MLB and no one seems bothered by that. Sports broadcasts are now casinos. I think it is rotten to the core and the entire sports landscape is tainted. I can’t see how these “partnerships” are good for anyone.
Like I said, the finale is always sad. No more baseball! On the good side, that means no more of those abominable dugout interviews with the manager. Does anyone besides Tom Verducci or Ken Rosenthal actually like those things? Every year Fox gives me more reasons to use the mute button.
Anyway, congrats to the BrewCrew for an impressive season. This is going to be a weird off-season. For one, the Giants have some work to do. For another, the owners have threatened a lockout if the players don’t play nice at the bargaining table. We’ll see!
