Sophie Cunningham often dominates WNBA headlines for different reasons. U.S. President Donald Trump recently raised an excellent opinion about her.

Cunningham and the Fever’s season ended earlier than they hoped for. They forced a winner-take-all Game 3 against the Las Vegas Aces in the first round of the playoffs. However, they failed to dethrone the defending champions as they lost 94-83 on Oct. 1. The 30-year-old will become an unrestricted free agent and her future with the franchise is up in the air.

Analysts expect her to receive interest from some teams around the league. She brings a lot of experience and has the ability to play multiple positions, making her a valuable addition to a franchise that signs her.

Indiana Fever: Donald Trump highlights Sophie Cunningham’s star power

Trump complimented Cunningham for her looks and how she brings viewership to Fever games. The president also emphasized that she is a “beautiful young woman.”

“We like Sophie Cunningham,” Trump said. “I like Sophie. You have a lot of men wanting to go and watch her. She’s beautiful. You’re not allowed to say that anymore. However, as a politician, please, please, let me take it back. Anytime a politician says a woman is beautiful, that’s generally the end of his political career and modern day politics world. But Sophie is a beautiful young woman. You probably wouldn’t mind her on the team, not to help you with points, but to help you with attendance.”

“We like Sophie Cunningham.”

President Trump compliments the popular Indiana Fever player, calling her a “beautiful young woman” before joking that “any time a politician says a woman is beautiful, that’s generally the end of his political career.”

Trump suggests Cunningham would be a good addition to any team — not necessarily because of the points she would score, but because of how she would increase fan attendance.
