Ex-Chicago Sky guard sends strong message about Angel Reese
Angel Reese started a new chapter of her career this season. The Chicago Sky traded her to the Atlanta Dream in April and she has already made her presence felt. The 24-year-old’s former teammate, Ariel Atkins, sent a strong message to her amid the WNBA Finals.
Atkins played alongside Reese last season and has since moved to the Los Angeles Sparks. However, the star forward only appeared in 30 games due to a back issue and the Sky missed the playoffs for the second straight year. Still, Reese was named an All-Star and continued to establish herself as one of the best two-way players in the league.

Atkins talked about Reese and the Dream reaching the WNBA Finals. She discussed how entertaining it has been to watch them compete in the championship series.
“I’m honestly just so happy for her, being able to watch Atlanta, just watching it all come together,” Atkins said. “I mean, I feel like they were good last year, and then just adding the pieces that they did and Angel and DeWanna (Bonner). I just think right now they’re really just killing it, putting it together. Watching the finals right now has been so fun.”

However, Reese and Co. now have their backs against the wall after losing 64-55 in Game 5 on Monday. They trail 3-2 and the Golden State Valkyries are one win away from winning the championship. The good news is Game 6 will be played at State Farm Arena in front of their home fans. However, the series will return to Chase Center for Game 7, if necessary.
Reese recorded seven points, 15 rebounds and five assists in 33 minutes. She struggled from the field, converting only 2-of-8 attempts. Her aggressiveness on both ends will be key in extending the series to a winner-take-all matchup.
