Chicago Bears pass rushers paying close attention to Seahawks injury update
The Chicago Bears have momentum on their side, 2-0 with quarterback Caleb Williams back under center. But in Week 8, they’ll face the tall task of taking on the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks.
Williams and company will have their hands full, as Seattle leads the league in total defense, allowing 233.9 yards per game. The NFL world got a full view of the Seahawks’ capabilities when they took down the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs, 20-3 in Week 7.
Offensively, the Bears must be prepared for everything wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba brings to the gridiron. He currently leads the NFL with 867 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. The receiver’s 58 receptions are second-highest in the league.
While Chicago will have their hands full with that matchup, the franchise appears to have caught a break. The Seahawks seem unlikely to have the services of their star left tackle.
Seattle Seahawks shorthanded for Chicago Bears clash

Charles Cross suffered a high-ankle sprain against the Chiefs and is now expected to miss time, via Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. While a trip to the injured reserve may not be necessary, playing in Week 8 seems out of the realm of possibilities.
“Seahawks OT Charles Cross, who suffered an ankle injury on Sunday, has a high-ankle sprain and will miss time, the MRI revealed,” Rapoport wrote. “The hope is he’s back in 1-2 weeks, but it depends on how rehab goes.”
For his work in 2026 thus far, Cross earned a 78 grade from Pro Football Focus, ranking 10/71 tackles. He is top 20 in both pass (77.6, 13th) and run blocking (73.1, 19th). Even with Sam Darnold throwing passes to JSN and the potential return of Zach Charbonnet, it’ll be more difficult for the Seahawks to operate at maximum capacity.
The Week 8 battle will pit two Super Bowl contenders up against each other. Even if injured, both the Bears are Seahawks will do everything in their power to try and earn a win.
