The 2026 WNBA Finals between the Atlanta Dream and Golden State Valkyries has been drawing massive audiences. Sophie Cunningham is watching it closely and had an important question for Angel Reese ahead of Game 4. The latest episode of the Indiana Fever guard’s podcast dropped ahead of the Dream’s 67-62 loss on Saturday.
Cunningham and the Fever are already deep in their offseason. They clinched the No. 6 seed in the playoffs after finishing the regular season with a 28-16 record. They faced the Las Vegas Aces in the first round and pushed the series to a deciding Game 3 on Oct. 1. However, Indiana failed to dethrone the defending champions, losing 94-83 on the road.
The 30-year-old will enter unrestricted free agency by the end of the campaign. She will be free to sign with any team but could also return to the Fever and help their chase for a title next year.
Sophie Cunningham shares thoughts on Angel Reese and Dream in WNBA Finals
Cunningham acknowledged how good Reese has been in the finals. However, she also wondered which among her Dream teammates will step if she has an off night.
“She’s killing it,” Cunningham said. “Angel, like that is no secret. Everyone is seeing the dominant player that she she is. But I’m curious to know, she’s making a lot of shots right now, too. If she has an off night, who’s going to step up? Are they going to be able to pick up those points? Because she’s killing it right now. And maybe she’s in the mindset that it doesn’t matter that she’s going to continue to play this way. And I hope she does. She’s playing phenomenal.
“But I’m curious to know, could she sustain it and what type of adjustments (the) Valkyries are going to come with? Cause they got a buck up. The wheels are falling off there and they have too good of players for their season to be ending like this. So it’s going to be a good one.”

Atlanta’s Game 4 loss allowed Golden State to regain homecourt advantage. The Valkyries held Reese to just eight points, along with nine rebounds, three assists and three blocks. The only Dream players who scored in double digits were Rhyne Howard, Jordin Canada and Isobele Borlase.
