Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White

A lot of questions now surround the Indiana Fever after their first-round exit. Many believe no position is safe, from players, coaching staff and front office personnel. Stephanie White’s role as the team’s head coach is under scrutiny and she talked about her situation during a press conference.

White guided the Fever to a 28-16 regular-season record. They secured the No. 6 seed but faced a big challenge against the Las Vegas Aces in the opening round. The team forced a Game 3 on Thursday; however, White and Co. suffered a 94-83 loss.

Kelsey Mitchell scored a team-high 23 points, along with two rebounds. She struggled from the field, converting only 7-of-23 shots. Aliyah Boston backed her with 19 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Caitlin Clark, who also had a poor shooting night, finished with 18 points on 6-of-18 attempts, with four assists and three three-pointers.

Stephanie White opens up of future with Fever

White stressed to reporters that she continues to receive support from the front office. She added that she wants to remain with her role next season.

“I feel support from the organization, no doubt about that,” White said. “At the end of the day, it’s their decision about whether I return or not. I love the opportunity (and) I love this franchise. I have always felt supported, from this franchise. And I hope to continue to be the coach.”

Indiana started the season slow by splitting its first 10 games. The team bounced back strong by winning 21 of its last 33 games, with White a big reason for it. While the Fever’s offseason came early, it gives the front office more time to assess their future and potentially form an even more formidable roster. Big decisions will be made, including White’s tenure with the franchise.
