World Series runner-up named perfect Chicago White Sox free agency target

The Chicago White Sox will be scouring the market for starting pitching throughout the offseason. They’ll have their eyes on the crown jewels of the market like Tarik Skubal and Michael King. But even if the White Sox miss out, there will still be potent arms available.

Chicago had four pitchers break 140 innings during the 2026 campaign. Sean Burke, Anthony Kay and Davis Martin – Erick Fedde, the fourth pitcher, is now a free agent – should all be considered for the 2027 rotation. Still, the White Sox will look to add some extra talent.

The franchise’s starting rotation ranked 26th during the regular season with a 4.60 ERA. Chicago may rely on the development of their young arms for success. But outside reinforcements may be necessary to find a true consistency.

Who the White Sox decide to target is yet to be seen. A near World Series champion has now been named as a potential fit.

Chicago White Sox named perfect Freddy Peralta fit

After a rough run with the New York Mets, Freddy Peralta completely revitalized his value with the Tampa Bay Rays. While he came up short in the World Series, the right-hander is now set to cash in. David Schoenfield of ESPN argues the White Sox should be the ones to write the check.

“With five straight seasons with an ERA below 4.00 before 2026, Peralta will be in demand and could receive a nine-figure deal,” Schoenfield wrote. “As mentioned earlier, the White Sox will be looking for rotation help. He’s a little homer-prone so isn’t necessarily the best match for Guaranteed Rate Field, which is generally home run-friendly, but adding someone who they can pencil in for 30 starts is a huge plus for a young team on the rise.”

Over his 10 starts with the Rays post-trade deadline, Peralta put up a 3.25 ERA and a 43/15 K/BB ratio. The right-hander then followed that act by registering a 2.95 ERA and 16/10 K/BB ratio over five postseason appearances.

Teams in need of pitching, especially those who miss out on Skubal and King, will be looking Peralta’s way. The White Sox may be forced to get into a bidding way.

But Peralta seems to be back on track and ready to lead a rotation once more. Chicago and MLB at-large haven’t forgotten about his two career All-Star appearances and over track record.
