Nick Redfern’s Top Secret Alien Abduction Files: What the government doesn’t want you to know

Nick does it again: provides one of ufology’s often controversial topics with new and revelatory insight(s).

In his latest book, Top Secret Alien Abduction Files: What the government doesn’t want you to know, Nick applies his journalistic skills to a UFO subject and presents readers with material that they never knew or knew little about.

I won’t review the book here, and you will see why when you get it to read. But I will highlight what thrills me about the content and Nick’s judicious reporting.

Those of us who think we know a lot or much about some alien abduction tales are wrong in that assessment.

The 204 pages of Nick’s new book are filled with hair-raising – not for Nick however – abduction accounts that bespeak government programs and interventions that have caused people to think they have been abducted by extraterrestrials.

Nick provides details that few, if any, know, such as the tale, in Chapter Two, about “The Men Who Got Carried Away.”

The Chapter on the Hunrath/Wilkinson affair is juicy reading, so odd as to invite rumination about how such stories have resisted publicity in the UFO community, causing Nick to bring forth his reportage.

Two men, Karl Hunrath, a hanger-on in George Adamski’s circle, and Wilbur Wilkinson, “relatively minor cogs in the UFO research of the early 1950s” Nick writes, took off, on November 10, 1953, in an airplane piloted by Hunrath for a trip to a California desert to meet with “friends.”

The men didn’t arrive at any California desert and disappeared, then, never to appear ever again, anywhere.

The FBI and local police got involved, as did Adamski acolyte, George Hunt Williamson, who had befriended the men.

The missing men had apparently been receiving, before their disappearance, messages from “men, from other planets.”

And Nick details how Hunrath got George Adamksi in hot water with the FBI by bragging of his [Hunrath’s] connection to a “machine-based intelligent entity called Mr. BOSCO” – more on this name below – whom Hunrath went around Ohio saying that this Mr. BOSCO was going to destroy “Uncle Sam’s aircraft.”

Later on, in the book [Chapter Four], Nick offers a recap of the Vila Boas “abduction” in 1957, which Nick presented in his earlier Contacteesbook.

The Vilas Boas incident was said to be a military/CIA experiment, recounted by CIA operative BOSCO Nedelcovic.

(Nick has provided much on the Nedelcovic Vilas Boas “abduction” revelation but, putting it in context with the Hunrath BOSCO insinuation Nick presents in his new book,, opens the door to a speculation that might prove interesting.)

In the 22 Chapters (and Conclusion), Nick recounts a slew of abduction stories that rile curiosity even for a person, like me, skeptical of abduction accounts.

There are many that provoke a kind of awe that is missing in usual UFO reports.

The 1973 Parker/Hickson Pascagoula incident gets Nick’s full treatment [Chapter Eleven], full of detail and material that is unknown by most UFO aficionados and even cognoscenti.

That the military was the culprit which encapsulated Calvin Parker and Charles Hickson in a weird scenario for reasons outlined by Nick in his conclusive chapter is without doubt, as Nick sees it, and one would be sensible to agree with Nick.

I particularly liked Chapter Fifteen’s story of a British bobby (cop) who took a bona fide photo of a strange dwarf he encountered in Ilkley Moor in West Yorkshire, England [1987] just before spotting a “flying saucer-like craft” in the distance.

The copper, under hypnosis – yes, that’s an iffy item – told of being taken aboard the craft he saw, given a tour, and was subjected to a physical examination.

He also was visited by Men in Black [MIB] who produced ID cards indicating they were from the British Military of Defense.

Serious UFO researchers Jenny Randles and Peter Hough accept the story told by the police officer as authentic, and Nick does too.

Nick’s related accounts often include MIB and sometimes “Black Helicopters” and always a military or government intrusion of one kind or another, sometimes benign, sometimes nefarious.

The book is fascinating, but what book by Nick isn’t?

Those of you who do not get Nick’s book are missing a sure-bet explanation for some alleged UFO abductions.

Moreover, being churlish with your money or reading when it comes to Nick’s books and other insightful UFO/paranormal writers is intellectually pernicious.

When a truly journalistic writer like Nick brings forth a book about the topic(s) that absorb those who visit here, we should encourage his effort(s) by buying his book but mostly we should gather his insights and reportage in order to think and speak sensibly about UFO matters that resound with truths that are otherwise missing in the ongoing UFO dialogue.

Nick’s new book is one of those that enlighten in ways that few others do.
