I have to say desert areas get flooding because the ground is normally so dry and hard the limited rainfall cannot soak in and so the run off happens and then leads to flash floods. Venice floods every year because the city itself is SINKING. It’s built on marshland with little to no support sunk to the bedrock level so the heaviness of the buildings is literally forcing the city down into the marshy soil. The Dead Sea is very salinated, but I have no doubt that evolution can help life adapt to live there. As the end of the day this is not a sign of the ‘End Times’, more just basic science and the adaptability of life and nature. I believe in God, but I don’t believe in organised relgion and I also think that holy books are doctored by those in charge – the Bible alone is more guidelines now than anything else as even the Vatican admit that past popes are messed it around wholesale with whole books being removed (ALL the disciples had a book in it and so did Mary Magdelene and also Mary, Mother if Jesus, there’s the famed Book of Enoch – ALL of these books are now missing from the Bible and instead sealed in the vaults of the Vatican where no one is permitted to see them). other parts have been completely re-written. So for me – I don’t see ‘signs and portents’, just nature and life.
