Rhodesia -- Portal into Future of the West

Ian Smith 1919-2007  – Still waiting for Hollywood to film his memoirs.

“We May Be a Small Country, But We Are a Determined People

who have been called upon to play a role of world-wide significance”

Ian Douglas Smith, Prime Minister of Rhodesia, 1964-1979

And so they were and they are – now more than ever as the world-wide Communist Revolution

hammers the global control grid into place over all Western nations.

From 1960 A.D, when UK Prime Minister, Harold Macmillan chanted the ‘Wind of Change’ mantra in Cape Town, Rhodesia stripped the mask of ‘anti-Communism’ from ZOG  UK and US.

The Rhodesians declared independence unilaterally on November 11, 1965, and fought a war of independence against the Communist Revolution in Africa. They may have won that war militarily, but they were betrayed by ZOG treachery.

Thinking perhaps that a little international law might also win the peace, they agreed to an election under the UN Charter in 1980. This was your typical ‘all get out’ – not only all Communist parties able to stand candidates but also their guerrilla forces and their mates across the border brought over to help persuade the electorate, add a little ethnic cleansing of the rival tribe (the electoral redistribution), ZOG protections for the guys who drive around with somebody’s head in the boot of their cars and Bob’s Your Uncle.

That would be Robert Mugabe, Zim president for life. I am sure they didn’t see that in the fine print – but that is UN Charter one vote = one value: no boundaries and no brakes.

Consider well this little time portal to a Western future. When the White minority surrenders its weapons in respect of democracy and international law, there will be Zim elections under the UN Charter.

It may be hard to believe now, but once upon a time this small country of Rhodesia, about the size of Montana, was the number one threat to world peace. Their ‘racist, settler, White minority’ government was presented to the entire English speaking world as the capital of White supremacy, colonial nationalism (very bad), racial prejudice (even worse) and ‘antiziganism’( shudder ).

PERSONAL

I grew up in the American heartland during the sixties.  Later, I worked in London for a South African based touring and safari company which marketed tour packages to corporate honchos.

This company was part of a secret UK business network organized between London, Johannesburg, and Salisbury to bust the UN sanctions on Rhodesia and obtain the necessaries for the war of independence. The company was a cog in the Rhodesian war machine.

In my early twenties, I was a go-fer writing travelers’ cheques for their tours and safaris in Rhodesian dollars. Little did I realize at the time, I was literally on the margins of one of the twentieth century’s defining events.

On the face of it, Rhodesia’s war of independence made no sense. Here you had this tiny little nation, supposedly the paragon of white racial supremacy, sanctioned by the UN, denounced by the entire Western media, condemned by the World Council of Churches as a racist monstrosity.

Their reserve bank was seized by H.M. Government. They were fighting two, later three, Zimbabwean Communist armies on three borders. Yet the majority of their non-conscripted population, the Shona and Matabele people fought with the white Rhodesian Front.

The entire Rhodesian phenom was a complete stumper in terms of modern Liberaldom, unless, of course, you had access to Lenin’s dictate of 1920, namely “that the expulsion of the colonial powers from their territories was vital to world communism. In the years 1960-1966 Western ‘liberalism’ supported this Leninist aim. The partnership indeed, between the governments of the ‘free world’ and communism, their professed enemy, is the basic fact of the years 1960 – 1966 in Africa. Only when that is understood does the picture of what has happened become plain, as a photograph emerges from a film in developing liquid.” ( Douglas Reed. 1966. The Battle for Rhodesia. p. 5 ).

THE RESERVE BANK OF RHODESIA

In the matter of the Rhodesian bank, the UK Parliament gagged any peer who dared rise in the Lords to speak a word on their behalf.

Briefly, the Reserve Bank of the old Crown Colony of Southern Rhodesia was seized by H.M. Government in London December 1965 with all assets and its sterling balances frozen.

But one month before the declaration of their republic, 2 March 1970, the Rhodesian Front Government created its own bank and introduced the Rhodesian dollar to replace the sterling at a rate of two Rhodesian dollars to one British pound. Although it was never fully convertible, those who worked on the financial side of the Rhodesian war effort worked to keep that dollar at transactional parity with the pound right up until 1980 when the young nation capitulated to its enemies under the UN Charter election.

A patriotic American, I cared about Rhodesia, the only nation besides us to declare independence from Great Britain and fight a war of independence to get it. I felt that Rhodesia was fighting our war. It would, however, have been considered bad form to get into all that.

With the Rhodesians, there is a certain style. You have to observe their standards and keep it light. There is nothing they hate more than a fuss. Even fighting the Communist Revolution with their backs to the wall and the entire sterling balance of their Reserve Bank frozen by order of H.M. Government – massive defaults on their securities contrived by the iniquitous actions of the London Board of Governors ( getting themselves handsomely censured in the Lords and in the Hansard April 20 1967 for that one ) – not a bit of it, the Rhodesians are still going to set their standards and not have a fuss, especially an emotional fuss – even if they are shorting the sterling with a blacklisted currency and have to make it plain to the go-fer they are only going to short by so much. This is Rhodesians.

On the 11th of November, I will be raising the glass to Rhodesia – last bastion of the once and future West. Their legend can not die.
