That October 14, 2019 New Yorker magazine

The New Yorker magazine issue I noted in my Nietzsche oriented piece (below) also has a few other articles that are interesting and should be read by a few of you, for your intellectual enlightenment:

A piece on the “poetic” epic Gilgamesh by Joan Acocella [Page 72 ff.]. Fascinating and edifying while being entertaining: “Gilgamesh” lost and regained.

A piece by John Seabrook about AI and the ability of computers to write text based upon what has gone before by the writer, Google’s Smart Compose at the center of the piece but not greedily hogging the author’s erudite rendering of where AI has gone and is going: The Next Word: Could a computer write this article? [Page 52 ff.]

(I’m still reading Mr. Seabrook’s piece; its eleven pages in the magazine.)
