Bryan salutes, with moderation, some Micah Hanks /Tom Bullard offerings about folklore and its connection to the UFO phenomenon.

Again, let me protest, slightly.

When notable UFOers, Hanks for one, take us into the weeds, I have to ask why?

Yes, there are examples of folkloric material that seems related to the UFO phenomenon, and may even provide some clues to an explanation for the enigma.

But it again is a walk around the issue — a traipse through an academic interest with a smothering human overlay.

UFOs, I repeat, need to be examined outside the torpor of academic musings, exampled heavily by the likes of such “UFO scholars” as David Clarke.

Despite a recent highlighted anti-NewThink piece that lambasted Edward deBono’s musings on thinking (Bryan was “kind enough” to send me), UFO people have to tackle the phenomenon anew, with fresh eyes and approach. The routine efforts have produced nothing worthwhile, nada, zilch, bupkas.

And the salvo linked above just distracts us from the phenomenon, well-written that it is.
