How To Get NATO Working Again & LJ To Shut Down?

I read this analysis of Putin’s behavior, given his history, and why he’s escalating tensions towards Ukraine. It’s believed by some who study the Russian leader that he never intended for things to get this serious. They believe he was trying to wrench concessions from several European nations, including the Ukraine.

However, rather than nervous capitulation, the European nations forming NATO along with the U.S. have strengthened their union and resolve, quickly reaching out to each other and working together against the threat that Putin and Russia are posing.

So, Putin, it is said, has overplayed his hand. Rather than making things easier for his agenda, he’s united his rivals and succeeded in creating a no-win situation for himself. His goals are getting further and further away from him due to his overreach. His ego won’t stand for looking “weak,” though, so he may see at least part of the aggression through rather than back away and give concessions himself.

OOPS.

The worry is that this “oops” will lead to things getting out of hand in Europe, and– by extension– the rest of the world. For example, LiveJournal, owned by Russia, may wipe out non-Cyrillic versions of LiveJournal. No worries, I keep up a mirror site on Dreamwidth: avalonautumn! Just keyword that plus “towards a new world” and you’ll find my writing back up easily enough!

I’m not so sure what will happen to my LiveJournal site “At Spiral’s End” though. I have more Russian readers than English at this point. I hope that it doesn’t get wiped out– I can piece it together again from the original posts (which are in my normal posts as well) but it will be a royal pain to do!
