Relaxed Beltane At State Park

Amara has been a steady and dedicated student during her Initiate year. Things are all going very well in that department! I’m starting to build up stamina and so I was feeling up to a walking path-working with oracle cards for a good portion of the Sabbat. First, though, we made mini Maypoles with dowels and red and white ribbons! Once I was able to explain the pattern for the ribbons to her, her own version made mine look pretty shabby in comparison, but I was thrilled ONE of us could make it work out. (I really suck at arts and crafts!)

We didn’t get the “WOW!” factor with the Spring path-working that we did with the winter one here on our own land. Maybe it’s that whole spiritual connection thing? I don’t know, but still, at least we got out and about for once. Meanwhile, she and I were both wearing red and black and we got some weird looks from the other park-goers, several of whom were celebrating a wedding reception. (A good day for a wedding though, eh?)

Our Sabbat meal was pretty tame– though tasty. Cat and I were both feeling pretty worn out and so we didn’t go for anything ambitious. Once more, Amara’s dessert contribution was both thoughtful and incredibly delicious!

We’re not sure yet if Amara can make the Litha Summer Solstice 3 day weekend thing or not, though– she’s moving to Portland it appears. She says she’ll continue to travel up to make meetings, but yikes! I’ll try to accommodate more Zoom meetings for lessons at least after she moves. That’s a lot to ask of a person. But she’s insisting on moving forward and I appreciate that loyalty.

I prefer to make a bigger deal out of a Sabbat, but there’s a lot going on right now for all of us, so… I just hope I can improve going forward.
