Doomsday Preppers 2012 Season Premier Episode

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Doomsday Preppers new season begins this Tuesday, November 13th.  I watched a preview of the first episode, “Am I Nuts or Are You?”

The premier episode has a similar format as the previous season, featuring three different prepper types, with varying reasons for preparing:

  • man preparing for nuclear war
  • teenager preparing for chaos resulting from an economic collapse
  • family preparing for a biological terrorist attack

Each segment showed preparations made, personal interviews, some action shots, and finally, an evaluation from Practical Preppers.  This time around, the evaluation included scores on key factors needed for survival:  food, water, shelter, security and something call “x-factor” that gives the prepper an edge.

I watched last season’s shows as well as read varying opinions about them, both complimentary and others not so.  As before, I was interested in finding out how other families prepare, and it continues to hold my interest.

They all state specific reasons for preparing, which may or may not sound plausible to the viewer.   People are concerned about different threats and there are multiple reasons to prepare.  The way I see it, these same preparedness supplies and skills can be useful for almost any disaster or emergency.  Compared to previous ones I’ve seen, the featured preppers in this new episode appeared more low key, and dare I say more “normal” than previously shown.   I thought the more detailed evaluation with the different survival factors was helpful.

Whether you watch it for entertainment, curiosity or to learn a thing or two, I’ll be watching right along with you.

If you plan to watch or set your DVR, here are the details:

  • Doomsday Preppers premieres Tuesday, November 13th at 9 PM on National Geographic Channel
