Africanized bees or killer bees are almost impossible to tell apart from the more docile European variety of Honey Bee. Killer bees will often times warn you that they are about to attack, by “Bumping you” in the face and neck before they actually sting you. Killer bees are aggressive and will chase and defend their hive by stinging thousands of times. These bees did not like being filmed at close range. This video is a good example of what to do in case of an unfortunate encounter with a killer beehive. RUN, do not swat, that will only agitate the bees even more, you need to get as far away from the hive as possible. Seek shelter in a house or car. If there is not a house or car close by just keep running! Do not stop running for any reason. Pace yourself, it’s not necessary to sprint because the bees will have far more stamina than you do and you will need to run for at least a quarter mile. The key is to keep getting distance until the bees decide to return back to their hive that they are trying to protect.
