I agree with you Brad, that you can and should be kind and respectful to people that you don’t know. But yes definitely be guarded. We are in some very volatile times. So it’s a good idea to be prepared for anything! And also to always be aware of your surroundings at all times!
At this point, I would be surprised if there wasn’t violence and civil unrest.I wish I had some inspirational words or reasons for optimism, but I don’t. This is a dark time in American history. My only hope is that when it’s all over, we’ll find a way to become the United States again. In the meantime, take care of yourself and your family.
Finally some good input around mental health issues. I work as a psych nurse in the UK and there is a model we nurses use called the Stress-Vulnerability model. I will not explain it as I suspect you can guess how it works, but the short answer is that everyone has a tipping point. We need to develop mental resilience in advance for when it all goes wrong.
