A New Survey Puts Numbers Behind Years of Unsettling Reports From Funeral Homes Around The World
The Mystery Clots Mainstream Medicine Refuses to Explain
Something strange continues to show up inside dead bodies, and nobody in a white lab coat seems willing to talk about it.
For a few years now, embalmers around the world have been pulling long, tough, rubbery white fibers out of corpses’ veins and arteries. These aren’t typical blood clots. The kind before the vaccine. They’re something else entirely, and now, finally, there’s a peer-reviewed paper putting real numbers behind the horror stories.
That paper comes from Major Tom Haviland, who’s spent years surveying embalmers about what they’re finding on the table. His work, “Self-Reported Observations of Unusual White Fibrous Structures in Embalmed Corpses: Multi-Year Survey Results from Embalmers in Five Countries, 2022–2025”, just landed in the International Journal of Innovative Research and Medical Science.
That matters more than it might sound. Once something’s peer-reviewed, it’s fair game to cite, discuss, and demand answers about. So let’s dig into what he found, because the numbers alone should make you sit up straight.
The Numbers Keep Climbing
Back in 2022, 66% of embalmers surveyed said they’d seen these bizarre white clots. By 2023, that number jumped to 73%. Then in 2024, it climbed again to 83%. Only in 2025 did it dip a bit, settling at 71%. Even with that recent dip, we’re still talking about roughly seven out of ten embalmers seeing something textbooks don’t explain.
Meanwhile, the average share of corpses affected has bounced around too. In 2022, embalmers who spotted the clots found them in about 24% of the bodies they worked on. That dropped to 20% in 2023, rose to 27% in 2024, and fell back to 19% in 2025. Whichever way the numbers wiggle, one thing stays constant: this isn’t a rare fluke. It’s a pattern showing up across entire countries, over and over again.
Not Your Everyday Death Clot

Here’s where things get interesting.
Doctors have known about post-mortem clots for as long as there’s been an autopsy table. There are “chicken fat clots,” pale and greasy-looking, formed from clotting factors in blood plasma.
There are “currant jelly clots,” sometimes called dirty blood by embalmers, made from the red cells settling out after death. Both are ordinary. Both are expected. Neither one explains what’s turning up now.
Then there’s the clotting that happens while someone’s still alive, like deep venous thrombosis in the legs, which can break loose and travel to the lungs, causing a fatal pulmonary embolism. That’s exactly why doctors take unexplained leg pain so seriously.
But these new white fibers aren’t that either. Pathologists and embalmers alike say they’ve never seen anything like this in decades of work. They’re tougher, more elastic, and shaped completely differently than anything in the training manuals.
So what exactly are we dealing with? Picture calamari, or maybe a fat earthworm, except pale white and stretched to fill the exact shape of an artery. These structures can run several inches long, and in some documented cases, they stretch to over a foot, occasionally nearly the length of an entire limb. They’re rubbery. They resist tearing.
And they conform so precisely to the blood vessel that embalmers can actually recognize the branching pattern of the arteries in the mold left behind.
The Evidence Is Hard to Argue With
Naturally, skepticism is healthy. When Haviland first heard about this back in 2021, he brushed it off as too absurd to take seriously.
That changed once photographic and video evidence started pouring in from embalmers like John O’Looney and Richard Hirschman.
Watching these fibrous casts get pulled straight out of a body’s arterial system leaves little room for doubt. They’re real, they’re physical, and they’ve been documented in exhaustive detail.
One case out of Milton Keynes, England, stands out. O’Looney was preparing a body that had already gone through a full post-mortem examination, organs removed, the works. Yet when he examined the top of the femoral artery, exposed after the pelvic organ block had been taken out, he pulled out a large white fibrous clot that the original post-mortem had somehow missed entirely.
It’s tough to explain how a structure that dramatic could slip past a formal medical examination. But there’s video of it happening, and it raises a question that deserves a real answer: what else is getting overlooked?
A Chemistry Clue From New Zealand
Beyond the visual evidence, researchers in New Zealand ran a chemical analysis on these fibers, backed by New Zealand Doctors Speaking Out with Science, and what they found only deepens the puzzle. An elemental breakdown of the clots turned up a strange chemical fingerprint: depleted in sulfur, the very marker you’d expect from ordinary protein, yet loaded with phosphorus.
A follow-up proteomic analysis dug even deeper, finding abnormal proteins and clotting factors pulled straight from blood plasma, with fibrinogen chains locked in ratios nothing like a normal clot. In other words, this isn’t debris or embalming fluid residue. It’s biological material, formed inside the body, with a chemical signature that doesn’t match anything in the standard textbooks on post-mortem clotting.
Timing That’s Hard to Ignore
Now here’s the part that should really grab your attention. According to Haviland’s surveys, a handful of embalmers reported spotting these strange fibers as far back as 2018 and 2019, well before COVID entered the picture.
But starting in late 2021 into 2022, reports exploded across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. That timeline lines up awfully closely with the rollout of COVID vaccines, and while correlation isn’t proof of causation, it’s exactly the kind of signal that deserves rigorous, independent investigation rather than silence.
Of course, the study has its limits, and Haviland is upfront about them. Participation was voluntary, which naturally skews toward embalmers who noticed something unusual in the first place. There was no standardized way of measuring or reporting the clots either. Still, many of the embalmers surveyed have decades of hands-on experience.
When professionals with that much time in the field say they’ve never seen anything like this before, it’s worth listening.
Why the Silence Is the Real Story
Perhaps the strangest part of all this isn’t the clots themselves. It’s the deafening silence from mainstream pathology. Normally, doctors love naming a new condition after themselves. Yet here we have a phenomenon documented across five countries, backed by photographic evidence, chemical analysis, and now a peer-reviewed survey, and the medical establishment has barely uttered a word about it.
That silence should bother you, especially if you’re someone who values self-reliance and clear-eyed skepticism toward institutions that claim to have all the answers. Off-grid living teaches us to trust direct observation, physical evidence, and the testimony of people doing the actual hands-on work, not just official pronouncements from those with a vested interest in staying quiet.
For now, this remains an open mystery. But it’s no longer a mystery you can dismiss as internet rumor.
It’s peer-reviewed, it’s documented, and it’s happening in mortuaries across the world.
If you or someone you know works in embalming and has seen these fibrous white clots firsthand, I’d like to hear about it. The more real-world testimony we gather, the harder this becomes to ignore.
So look, stay curious, stay skeptical of easy answers. Keep checking Off The Grid News, because something’s clearly going on beneath the surface, quite literally.
