World War Z: Problematical Propaganda

If I were a Hollywood movie reviewer, this review would go something like this:

This movie is a high-dollar remake of I Am Legend which was a remake of The Omega Man whose genesis was the Vincent Price classic, The Last Man on Earth. Even the Zombie sound effects in this movie are the same as that of I Am Legend. The music, if you can call it that, is simply a droll hum in the background. Even the wonderful acting ability of Brad Pitt cannot save this film (remember this is a Hollywood review).

This movie is apparently based on a series of horror novels by Max Brooks.

Now we get into the particulars. Meaning the political particulars. The title of the movie suggests that this is a movie about the last war the earth will face. It will not distract from the plot to inform you that there is a virus that is causing people to turn into zombies and when they bite another person, that person turns into a zombie in twelve-seconds.

There is, of course, a demand that we suspend belief and that zombies from a disease is possible. We did this for I Am Legend and the previous films. In fact I Am Legend was a good film because Will Smith is a great actor and the story was good. But that is where the similarity of World War Z and I Am Legend end.

The following points I cannot suspend belief on.

First, the movie is clear propaganda for the United Nations and the World Health Organization. Pitt takes his old job back working for the Secretary of the United Nations as an operative of the WHO to find a way to kill zombies. It is difficult to believe that the United Nations would be out to end the lives of Obama followers.

Second they are operating from something called the “United Nations Atlantic Command.” The ships are, of course, United States destroyers and carriers. This is not too far off since Obama and Congress want to enter us into the one world government, aka new world order. The ship sets look more like those used in Star Trek Into Darkness. Again, not too amazing since Skydance is the producer on both films.

This movie is a clear Hollywood attempt to combat the propaganda of the movie Independence Day some years back in which the Americans were the heroes. Now the attempt by Hollywood is to show the “benevolence” of the new world order headed by the United Nations protecting a happily unarmed United States.

To be fair, zombies will love this movie.
