A friend of mine posted the question, why did #arleg include extending term limits in an ethics bill? This is my answer to her. Like many other politicians, once in power they want to keep it. There are many arguments for extended term limits however none of them are good. Getting elected to a public office should nev…er be a career choice. Public servants need no legislative experience only the core principles of limited government and individual Liberty. Voting those two principles is easy and no level of debate training, coalition building or consensus building is necessary to legislate with consistency and integrity. Term limits are necessary for the most important reason there is, to limit the size, scope and authority of government in the lives of individual citizens. Anything else is just about playing the “game” of politics.
