Callie Dalton, Berglund, Duncan Hyundai, and Others Sponsor Roanoke Times Hate Speech

Recently the Roanoke Times published an article attacking the Roanoke Tea Party, our leadership, our members and our friends. You can read our response to that attack article HERE.

It was just brought to our attention that local businesses sponsored that attack article by having their ads featured on it. Bank of Botetourt, Cahoon’s Florist, Long & Foster Realtor Callie Dalton, Berglund Chevrolet, Duncan Hyundai, Valley Sports & Spine Clinic, Outdoor Power Equipment, Glade Creek Apartments and Wills on Wheels lawyer Robert “Bob” Bersch all had advertisements on the hate-filled article attacking us.

For the record, we support the first amendment rights of the Roanoke Times and their advertisers even if we find what they have done offensive. We are not asking that the article be removed or that government get involved and violate their free speech. We simply want to make sure that everyone knows what they have said and who they said it about so they can make informed decisions on who to do business with.

The Dan Casey Roanoke Times article in question contained slurs, attacks and insults such as equating our work with things “such as a felony arrest”. It said, “Their glass is always half full, even if that’s with battery acid rather than fine wine”. Readers were encouraged to “laugh your heads off” at our beliefs. It insinuated that our president was doing drugs by asking “What is Aldridge smoking?” It called one of our friends a “Right wing political neophyte”. It called our legitimate fight against Roanoke County wasting taxpayer money on ICLEI “the strange conspiracy theory”. It called another one of us the”Biggest Fool” and told readers “You should run as far away as you can from the Roanoke Tea Party”

By sponsoring this kind of hateful attack on the liberty minded, conservative, constitutionalist and tea party Republican people who identify with the Roanoke Tea Party, these local businesses have made it clear that they do not want our business.

If you would like to let them know they do not have to worry about us spending our money with them and that we will make sure we tell all those we know who believe as we do that these businesses do not want to do business with us, here is the contact information that was published in their ads on the offensive article:
