You are the Flock???

Well, we know many libertarians who refer to most Americans as “sheep” or “sheeple,” don’t we?

But this is a bit different. We are referring to a recent news story stating that Apple is including external cameras in their next generation of AirPods.

The website GeekyGadgets.com posted this some time ago: Apple is expected to release AirPods with built-in cameras, likely called AirPods Pro 4 or AirPods Pro Ultra, as early as September, “featuring AI-powered visual awareness and gesture recognition.”

That is, cameras. Sticking out of your ears on both sides.

Please, dear readers, can someone please explain why people wearing these things need to have better visual awareness and gesture recognition? Frankly, it seems like the biggest problem with these pods (ear-buds) is noise distraction.

And does a sweet little voice whisper into one ear or the other when there is something/someone “visually approaching” or perhaps making rude (or even nice) gestures?

And perhaps just what these cameras can see, sticking out of your ears like that. Especially if you have long hair and wear it down, or wear a watch cap or scarf, or whatever. Radar? Sonar? Or will the AI ask you, “Who is that ugly brute charging at you from 5 o’clock?”

We agree with those who claim this is a mobile Flock camera. (We know that depends on the resolution, but we know that modern high-res cameras can be very, very tiny.) And courtesy of AI and apparently a constant connection to the internet, or periodic link-ups, they can search the WWW or the CIA’s secret files, right? We assume that these things will keepworking as long as you are using them (that is, powered up). (We don’t use or know much about AirPods, here at TPOL. Maybe, like more and more computers and phones, they are alwasy “on,”)

Sounds just dandy! With the best of intentions (across the board: make money, keep selling gadgets, help poor hapless people understand gestures have have better awareness of their surroundings. Oh, and cooperate with local, State, Fedgov, and UN “compassionate caretakers.” You know, like cops and mental health experts and politicians.

A correspondent noted (in part): Here we go again. Though the covid fiasco was a clear deception, early after it was launched, the majority of people chose to fall for it, … People want to trust authority figures and organizations, even after seeing evidence to the untrustworthiness of man. And many will fall for this wonderful innovation too, offering all sorts of logical, reasonable explanations and justifications for doing so. Apple would not produce this gadget if their market research did not offer strong assurance that they will not only recover development costs, but make huge profits on top.

It fortunately seems like this would be easy to circumvent. Provided people are aware of it.

The challenge comes with the Woke who WELCOME such surveillance. After all, if we have tens or hundreds of thousands of women who demand that we accept and praise a women who murdered her own three children, what will they not buy into?

Another apt comparison would be the tremendous monetary and moral support the guy who killed a health care CEO is getting! He is a murderer. Just as premeditated as the former mother. He didn’t “speak truth to power.” He killed.

We should point out (to be fair to Apple, not that they deserve it) that the situational awareness is supposed to be a way for the little tattle-tales to adjust volume for the sucker (customer/user). And the “gesture recognition” (we are told) is so that the user (sucker) can control volume, bass and treble, and song selection just by waving their hands (or fingers, or other body extesnions.

How gullible are you? Even if only half as gullible as the supporters of the children-killer or the CEO-terminator, you are no doubt standing in line for the AirPod Pro 4.

The only problem for those of us who reject this kind of nonsense is that those ear-cameras may be recording us. While true lovers of liberty may not actually go up and rip the devilish objects out of your ears, there are no doubt those who are more than willing. As they are doing with the stationary Flocks.
