Pentagon’s Latest UFO Release: Observers Describe Silent Black Triangle Moving At 1,800 MPH Over Redacted Western US Site

Two senior military observers say they watched a black triangular object fly at extraordinary speed over a sensitive site in the western US earlier this year, according to the newest batch of UFO files released Friday by the Trump administration, the Guardian reports. The unidentified object showed none of the characteristics of a conventional military aircraft and vanished suddenly and silently within seconds, leaving no exhaust trail or other evidence, their report says. The location is redacted in the public file.

The observers, anonymous sources with “extensive operational experience working alongside government agencies,” described a craft resembling a delta-wing drone with a wingspan of between nine and 15 feet. They calculated its speed at 1,800 mph, according to the report.

Another account of the same report gives a different picture. Scientific American says the witnesses were multiple federal law enforcement agents, who described a “matte black triangular shape of extremely low aspect ratio,” 13 to 15 feet across, about 6 to 9 feet long and 1 to 2 feet thick. It climbed 200 or 300 feet over a ridgeline in about 10 seconds, hovered for roughly 20 seconds, then left at “fighter-jet-like speeds” into a nearby canyon, hugging the terrain and making fluid turns. Scientific American gives no numeric speed.

The report says the object made no fighter-jet noise and showed no exhaust plume. An agent’s handheld infrared monocular showed a uniform thermal signature across its body, and through binoculars the agents saw “no propulsive apertures, rotating elements, rivets, panels, windows, canopy, cabin structures.”

The evidence is thin. The file’s only illustrations are nine identical images of the same unidentified canyon with tiny triangular silhouettes crudely added, the Guardian says, computer-generated for the report. “This does indeed look like little more than a black triangle shape superimposed on a landscape background to illustrate the report. I don’t think it really adds anything substantive to the report itself,” said Greg Eghigian, a Penn State historian and author of After the Flying Saucers Came. Scientific American notes the batch itself contains no videos or images.

The release is the latest of hundreds of reports the Pentagon has put out since May under Trump’s promise of transparency on UFOs, the Guardian says. The pace has slowed. Friday’s batch held fewer than 25 text documents and no videos or images, and the releases have become noticeably thinner since Trump declared in February that he was ordering full disclosure. Many details in the files are vague, inconclusive or blacked out.

Harvard’s Avi Loeb, who heads the government’s UAP Science Advisory Council, wrote in a blog post that the key question is “whether the triangular object was manufactured in a black project of an adversarial nation,” Scientific American reports. He plans to deploy new sensors where such objects were observed. ZeroHedge has covered the releases, including a Roswell witness’s account from the newly released files.
