The other great catch was that of the 78 year old runner Bill Iffing. In order for him to have the slightest chance of catching the object tossed at him was for him to know about it, anticipate it, and expect it at a particular point of the race. During the day of the bombing, some questioned why he fell if uninjured… and why he turned and landed in the opposite direction. Although most anyone would dismiss his fall as natural for a man of his age, he was exceptionally fit for a senior citizen and had participated in other marathons.
