Why Boracay Considered As The Top Must-Visit Island in the World?

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Once again with Kathleen and once again in the Philippines. Following the article on the 10 best reasons to go, here are Kathleen’s insights on the beautiful Boracay island :)

Boracay Island is a fast becoming little known tourist secret. The island is part of the Philippines and two years ago was a focus for tourism on CNN. It is always fun and interesting to stake a claim on a little known tourist destination before everyone finds out about it.

Boracay Island is divided into three main sectors, one being the tourist industry, another for agriculture, and the third for forest lands. The island itself is shaped like a dog bone and has an area of just over 10 kilometer size. Boracay has two main beaches that tourists flock to. One beach is known as Bulabog Beach and the other is White Beach. There are numerous other beaches worth visiting. Temperatures can range from 70 degrees F, to over 95 degrees F. Temperatures can also fall just below 70 degrees F during the tropical storm season.

White Beach seems the most popular among guests as there are many resorts, actually well over 300 resorts. This island has lodging houses, and hotels. Accommodations range from five star resorts to more budget conscious accommodation. Businesses related to the tourist industry and many restaurants are dotted throughout the tourist section of the island such as, shopping, pubs, bars, and nightclubs. This makes Bulabog Beach the second most popular beach for guests. Each beach has a venue of fun water sports such as windsurfing, scuba diving, Kite boarding, cliff diving, snorkelling or just plain relaxing on these beaches.

If a tourist is a golfer they will be delighted to know that there is an 18 hole par 72 Graham Marsh golf course, professionally designed for golfing excitement. Over the last few years Boracay has become very competitive and offers week long competitions held in January each year, such as the Boracay International Fun board Cup on Bulabog Beach. Along with this competition is held the Asian Windsurfing competition. January holds a wealth of entertaining competitions.

Another is a Festival held in Kalibo on Panay Island, just a short ways away. This is called the Ati-Atihan Festival. A small festival called Ati-Atihan is held in Boracay in the end of January. Tourists should not miss seeing the Dragon boat races sponsored by the Philippine Dragon Boat Federation. Teams for this competition arrive on Boracay from the Philippines and other Asian countries to race. This competition is generally held in April or May.

Boracay also hosts the PDBF International Club Crew Challenge in April. The first Frisbee event was held in Boracay in 2003 and Boracay has been host to the Boracay Open Asian Beach Ultimate Tournament each year since, during the summer months.
On the Island of Boracay transportation is via motor-tricycles, walking, quad bikes, motorbikes and mountain bikes, of which all can be rented. Boracay Island can be reached by sea or air.

It is easy to understand why Boracay Island is fast becoming a tourist attraction. The island has kept this tourist destination a well kept secret, but the secret is finally out.
