From the capital London to the countryside here’s Kathy with an article providing information on what you can expect when visiting Bodiam Castle in East Sussex including different events, opening times, price ranges, shopping options, and places to eat.

East Sussex is gaining a lot of attention as a popular tourist spot. The main reason for this is because there is a wealth to do and see in the area. A lot of families in particular enjoy visiting the region because they can pack their vacation with lots of fun activities. Nonetheless, there is one place that stands out from all of the rest and this is Bodiam Castle. Whether you are visiting Eastbourne, Bexhill-on-Sea, or Rye; a trip to anywhere in East Sussex is not complete without taking the short journey to the exciting and fascinating castle.

The castle itself is situated near Robertsbridge and should not be too difficult for you to find. It is open every single day of the week which means you will easily be able to fit this into your vacation plans. The castle, shop and tea room are all open from 10.30 am until 7.00 pm. Entrance costs £6.70 for an adult and £3.35 for a child. Nonetheless there is the option to purchase a family ticket at £16.75.

Now let’s get to the good stuff; the castle itself. Bodiam Castle is a sight to behold to say the least. The castle dates back to the 14th century and boasts a wealth of architectural brilliance to marvel over. The moat is a particular highlight for most people; nevertheless there are also fascinating battlements, spiral staircases and even a portcullis. To say that this is a place that opens up your imagination to a wealth of possibilities is an understatement. Your mind will wonder to battles of historic proportion and you will get lost in the picturesque views on offer.

Before visiting the castle you should take a look at their events calendar in order to see if there is anything exciting happening whilst you are visiting East Sussex. If there is a particular event occurring then you can plan to visit the castle on that day. Upcoming events include ‘Batty at Bodiam’. This is taking place between 7pm and 10.30pm on July 5th and includes a special talk about the ‘batty’ inhabitants and a delicious three course dinner. You will have to book if you want to go to this event. Furthermore, there is another fantastic event taking place that weekend which is particularly great for children. Take your little ones down to the castle between 11 am and 4 pm on Saturday 6th July or Sunday 7th July and they will be able to create some exciting art. What child doesn’t love to get messy with a paint brush?

And don’t forget to take the time to have a bite to eat at the scrumptious Wharf Tea-room. There are lots of delicious dishes on the lunch menu for you to choose from or perhaps you would prefer to indulge in some gorgeous cakes and afternoon tea. There is also the gift shop too. After all, you are bound to have had a fantastic day and thus will undoubtedly want to buy a souvenir to remind you of the occasion.

If you are planning on visiting East Sussex this year then make sure you take a trip to Bodiam Castle. You will end up regretting it if you miss this fantastic attraction out of your holiday plans.
