What To Do In Seychelles

In the past, Seychelles wasn’t a popular choice for travelers. It can take a while to get there and many travelers weren’t wanting to make the effort as they didn’t realize what a beautiful area it is. However, many cruise lines are adding stops there so the area is seeing a lot more tourists each year. If your cruise ship does stop in Seychelles, here’s what to do while you are there.

Valle De Mai Nature Reserve

This UNESCO World Heritage Site is located on the island of Praslin. The reserve is best known for the Coco de Mer palm tree. However, if your cruise ship is stopping in Seychelles they may offer a tour of the reserve. Locals strive to show tourists about their wildlife conservation’s efforts and the unique ecosystem of the area.

Sainte Anne Marine National Park

This park actually consists of eight tiny islands. Originally the park was used to preserve wildlife. In fact, many tourists come here to do some snorkeling or scuba diving as there are a lot of coral reefs located in the vicinity. A popular excursion includes going on a glass-bottom boat where participants can see things like coral gardens, tropical fish and even reef sharks.

Cousin Island

This former coconut plantation is now the home to thousands of birds and other wildlife. There are nearly 300,000 nesting seabirds located here. There are also tortoises that nest on the beach. This is definitely a great spot for animal lovers to visit.

The Many Beaches

Some of the most beautiful beaches in the world are located in Seychelles. The waters are extraordinary and they can range from green to even purple in color. Many of the beaches do have an abundance of palm trees so it’s easy to find a shady spot to relax. One of the most popular beaches for tourists to visit is Georgette Beach. As a matter of fact, those looking for an adventure, there are plenty of water sports to try and many of the locals are more than willing to give tourists a few pointers.

Stays At A Resort

After leaving the cruise ship, many passengers opt to book a resort stay for just the day so that they can enjoy all of the resort’s amenities. The Eden Bleu Hotel is a popular choice as it has an infinity pool that’s on the water and it has a very tranquil atmosphere. The Lemuria Resort has a spa onsite as well as golf and tennis.
