“I put this before Congress for a reason,” Obama told reporters. “I believe action is more effective and stronger if we are united. I’m not engaging in parlor games with respect to how Congress responds to their constituents’ concerns.”

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Wednesday narrowly passed a resolution to authorize force in Syria, but the resolution is expected to be a tough sell in the House.

Obama to Give White House Address on Syria

White House Presses Syria Case With New Website
In a bid to strengthen the case for U.S. military intervention in Syria, the White House launched a new website designed to help the public “learn more about President Obama’s response to the Assad regime’s use of chemical weapons in Syria and get the latest news from the White House about the situation.”

President Barack Obama will make his case to the American people for military intervention in Syria in a White House address on Tuesday.

Obama made the announcement Friday at a press conference in St. Petersburg, Russia, where he is wrapping up the two-day Group of 20 economic summit.

Syrian President Bashar Assad used chemical weapons to kill 1,429 of his people in the midst of the Syrian civil war, according to U.S. intelligence.

“When there is a breach this brazen of a norm this important, and the international community is is paralyzed, the norm begins to unravel,” Obama said of the use of chemical weapons by the Assad regime. [Source]

    • And , again, Obama asks congress to not listen to the people….

But, Obama said, members of Congress need to consider the lessons of World War II and their own consciences and vote ‘yes’ to authorize the use of force, even if it means going against the opinion of the majority of their constituents.

“Each member of Congress is going to have to decide if [they] think it’s the right thing to do for America’s national security and the world’s national security,” Obama said. “Ultimately, you listen to your constituents, but you’ve got to make some decisions about what you believe is right for America.”

If congress votes no and Obama still ‘orders’ the military to strike, will they obey this illegal order?

If congress votes no and the military ignore this and obey the order of one man over the country’s representative government, then we are well and truly deep in the bowels of a dictatorship.
