What the Discovery Channel Just Did Is an Absolute Disgrace!
At a time when people are sensitive to and are more aware than ever to the very real possibility that what they are reading in their news feeds, listening to on the radio or watching on their TV’s is fake news, it’s probably not a good idea to continue that trend of lying for the purpose of getting more viewers to check out your content – that is if you care at all about your credibility before an audience of awakening critical thinking people.
But deceiving their audience with false advertising is exactly what the Discovery channel just did in their ridiculously fake build up to a supposed race between Olympic Swimmer Michael Phelps and a Great White Shark. If you think about it, since people are so thin-skinned these days, maybe Discovery should have considered going with a less offensive moniker for the shark. Maybe they should have called the finned creature an average caucasian shark. Surely that would have appeased the leftist crybullies and kept them from scurrying off to their snowflakey little safe spaces. But I digress. And it’s a pretty sad state of affairs that, because people will inevitably explain away this fakery as entertainment or defend Discovery’s clearly false advertising, that it’s even necessary to throw a stinkin definition out there for a word pretty much any 5 year old could explain with a great degree of accuracy. But…here ya go.
