Urea Price Trend in India 2026 | Price Trends, Forecast, Chart, Prices And Index

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

The Urea Price Trend in India changed sharply during Q2 2026, with different grades and markets showing strong increases followed by a noticeable correction in June. Prices were influenced by agricultural demand, import availability, international trade conditions, freight costs, domestic supply, and changes in exporting-country prices.

For buyers and businesses that use urea for fertilizers, industrial applications, and automotive-related uses, understanding these movements is important for purchase planning and cost management. The Urea Prices seen during the quarter show how quickly the market can respond when supply becomes tight and then improves.

Urea Price Trend in India During Q2 2026

The global urea market experienced a strong upward movement during much of Q2 2026. Prices across Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and Europe increased between approximately 21% and 51% during the quarter. The main reasons were tight supply and firm agricultural demand.

The market became particularly active as agricultural requirements increased ahead of important planting periods. At the same time, international supply constraints affected the availability of cargoes in several regions. These conditions pushed prices higher across many markets.

The Urea Price Chart for Q2 2026 would therefore show a clear upward movement through much of the quarter, followed by a sharp downward correction toward June.

This change was important because it showed that the urea market was not moving in one direction throughout the quarter. Prices first increased because of supply limitations and strong demand, but later declined when supply conditions improved.

The Urea Price Index also reflected this change. By June 2026, prices had fallen by around 30% to 42% across many global regions as supply constraints eased and granular fertilizer grades started to normalize.

What Happened to Urea Prices in India?

The Indian market experienced different price movements depending on the grade and location.

Imported granular fertilizer-grade urea at Kandla recorded one of the strongest movements during the quarter. Technical Grade Urea and Automotive Grade Urea also experienced significant increases in their respective domestic markets.

This difference is important because there is no single urea market in India. Prices can vary according to grade, origin, import availability, domestic production, transportation costs, and end-use demand.

During Q2, the market was affected by international logistics problems and restricted cargo availability. These factors increased the cost and difficulty of bringing material into India.

However, by June, improved supply conditions resulted in significant price corrections across several grades.

Granular Urea Price Trend at Kandla

Imported granular fertilizer-grade urea at Kandla recorded a strongly bullish movement during Q2 2026.

The market closely followed prices from the Gulf region, particularly Saudi Arabia, which was an important exporting origin for these cargoes. Disruptions to vessel movements and higher freight costs created additional pressure on imported urea prices.

Trade and logistics constraints in the Gulf reduced cargo availability for much of the quarter. At the same time, agricultural demand remained strong because of preparations for the Kharif planting season.

This combination of restricted supply and strong demand pushed prices higher.

The quarterly increase reached approximately 43%. This was a major movement and shows how strongly international supply conditions can influence the Indian market.

However, the situation changed toward the end of the quarter. As tensions eased and cargo flows improved, the market began to correct.

In June 2026, granular urea prices at Kandla fell by around 41% compared with the previous month. This sharp decline reflected the large correction that was also seen in the exporting market.

For buyers, this movement demonstrates why following only a quarterly average may not provide the complete picture. A market can show a strong quarterly increase while still experiencing a significant decline in the final month.

Technical Grade Urea Price Trend in India

Technical Grade Urea had a comparatively softer movement in the import market.

At Nhava Sheva, Technical Grade Urea prices followed the trend in China, which was the exporting origin for these cargoes. Easing downstream industrial demand reduced pressure on export prices during the quarter.

Trade and logistics flows from China remained relatively stable, helping maintain cargo availability in India.

In June 2026, Technical Grade Urea prices in India declined by around 1% compared with May. This followed the softer pricing trend in the Chinese export market.

The movement was much more moderate than the sharp correction seen in granular fertilizer-grade urea.

This difference highlights the importance of monitoring individual grades rather than treating all urea prices as one market.

Technical Grade Urea at Vadodara

The domestic Technical Grade Urea market at Vadodara recorded a much stronger movement during Q2 2026.

Prices increased by approximately 51% over the quarter. Several factors contributed to this rise, including firm domestic feedstock costs and limited availability of imported cargoes from China.

Softer Chinese export activity reduced the availability of imported material, which increased dependence on domestic supply.

At the same time, agricultural demand and industrial offtake within India remained steady. As local availability became relatively tighter, the difference between domestic and import market prices became more visible.

By the end of the quarter, however, supply conditions improved. China resumed exports of Technical Grade Urea from late May, which helped increase availability in the Indian market.

As a result, June 2026 Technical Grade Urea prices at Vadodara declined by around 13% from May.

Even after this correction, the quarterly movement remained strongly positive because prices had risen substantially during the earlier part of the quarter.

Automotive Grade Urea Price Trend in India

Automotive Grade Urea also recorded a strong increase during Q2 2026.

The market was affected by the continued suspension of Automotive Grade Urea exports from China, which had been in place since October 15. This reduced import availability and increased dependence on domestic production.

Domestic automotive-related demand remained firm, adding further support to the market.

With imported supply constrained, the difference between domestic and import pricing widened. This created additional upward pressure on Automotive Grade Urea prices.

During the quarter, Automotive Grade Urea prices increased by approximately 45%.

The market then started to correct as domestic supply availability improved. China resumed Automotive Grade Urea exports from late May, which helped bring additional material into the Indian market.

In June 2026, Automotive Grade Urea prices declined by approximately 12% compared with the previous month.

Again, the June decline did not completely reverse the earlier increase. The overall quarterly movement remained strongly positive.

Why Urea Prices Changed So Quickly

The Q2 2026 market provides several useful lessons about urea pricing.

First, supply availability is one of the most important factors. When imports become difficult or export availability is reduced, prices can rise quickly.

Second, agricultural demand can have a major effect. Strong buying ahead of planting seasons can increase demand at a time when buyers are already competing for available cargoes.

Third, freight and logistics costs can directly influence imported prices. When vessel movements are disrupted or shipping routes become more expensive, the delivered cost of urea can increase even if the underlying product price does not change by the same amount.

Fourth, domestic production and import dependence can influence different grades in different ways. When imported material becomes less available, domestic supply can become more important and local prices can move independently from international prices.

Finally, export policies and trade flows can quickly change the balance between supply and demand. The return of Chinese Technical Grade and Automotive Grade Urea exports in late May helped improve availability and contributed to the June price correction.

Understanding the Urea Price Chart

The Urea Price Chart for Q2 2026 can be understood in three broad stages.

The first stage was the strong upward movement caused by tight supply and firm demand. This was particularly visible in imported granular urea and some domestic technical and automotive grades.

The second stage was the period of continued price strength while supply remained constrained and buyers continued to require material.

The third stage came toward the end of the quarter. Improved availability and easing supply restrictions resulted in a significant correction in June.

This type of price movement is important for procurement teams because the timing of a purchase can have a major impact on the final cost.

Urea Price Index and Market Monitoring

The Urea Price Index provides a useful way to understand the broader direction of the market. However, businesses should also monitor individual grades, locations, and trade routes.

For example, imported fertilizer-grade urea at Kandla behaved differently from Technical Grade Urea at Nhava Sheva. Domestic Technical Grade and Automotive Grade Urea at Vadodara also experienced different levels of price movement.

Therefore, a broader index can show the overall direction, but grade-specific and location-specific information can provide a clearer picture for actual purchasing decisions.

Businesses that regularly buy urea should also watch international export prices, domestic availability, freight conditions, inventory levels, agricultural demand, and changes in trade flows.

What Buyers Can Learn From Q2 2026

The Q2 2026 urea market shows that purchasing decisions should not depend only on historical prices.

When supply is tight, waiting too long can expose buyers to higher costs. On the other hand, when supply conditions improve rapidly, prices can correct sharply, as seen in June.

A balanced procurement approach can therefore include regular monitoring of market prices, supplier availability, import conditions, freight costs, and demand trends.

For industrial users, technical-grade buyers, automotive-related users, and fertilizer purchasers, it is also important to track the specific grade they consume rather than relying only on a general urea benchmark.

Urea Price Outlook for Q3 2026

The Q3 2026 outlook points toward a strongly bearish global market.

The expected downward pressure is linked to ample global supply, lower natural gas and ammonia feedstock costs, and weak seasonal demand.

Asia is expected to experience some of the strongest price declines because of aggressive export competition. Europe may also see continued price corrections because inventories are considered comfortable. North America is expected to experience softer prices as supply remains balanced and buyers remain cautious.

For India, the direction of the market will depend on how quickly international supply conditions improve, how import prices move, and how agricultural demand develops.

The sharp correction seen at the end of Q2 could continue to influence purchasing decisions in Q3 if supply remains comfortable.

Lower feedstock costs can also reduce production economics, while higher availability can increase competition between suppliers.

However, market participants should continue watching supply disruptions, plant operating rates, inventory levels, trade flows, freight costs, and geopolitical developments because any major change in these factors can alter the market direction.

The Urea Price Trend in India during Q2 2026 was highly volatile. Prices increased strongly across several grades because of tight supply, firm agricultural demand, restricted imports, higher logistics costs, and international trade disruptions. Granular fertilizer-grade urea at Kandla increased by around 43% during the quarter, while Technical Grade Urea and Automotive Grade Urea at Vadodara recorded increases of approximately 51% and 45%, respectively.

At the same time, June brought a significant correction as supply availability improved. Granular urea prices at Kandla declined by around 41% month on month, while Technical Grade and Automotive Grade Urea at Vadodara also recorded noticeable monthly declines.

The Q2 experience shows that Urea Prices can change quickly when supply, demand, trade, and logistics conditions shift. Looking ahead to Q3 2026, the global outlook is strongly bearish, with ample supply, lower feedstock costs, and weaker seasonal demand expected to put downward pressure on prices.

For buyers and businesses, tracking the Urea Price Chart, Urea Price Index, import conditions, domestic availability, and international market developments can help provide a clearer understanding of where the market is heading and support better procurement planning.
