Two of the top contenders on “American Idol ” this week — Crystal Bowersox and Lee Dewyze — took some big risks with their performances. (In the case of Crystal, it was a didgeridoo in “Come Together,” whereas Lee busted out the bagpipes for “Hey Jude”). Not only did it add a sense of fun to this week’s McCartney and Lennon-themed episode, but it also helped to deliver a ratings win for Fox .
