In Memory of a Beautiful 17-Year-Old Girl Killed for Her Cellphone
Kholeka Kunene went to reclaim what was hers — and paid for it with her life.

We continue to remember Kholeka Kunene, a beautiful young girl of only 17 years old, who was attacked and killed on Sunday, 30 November 2025 — murdered for her cellphone.

Kholeka had gone to demand her phone back from the young man who had robbed her the previous day. That act of courage, that determination to recover what belonged to her, cost her her life.

“Kholeka Kunene, we still remember you. May your spirit not rest until your murderer is punished to the full.”

South Africa has a deep and painful problem — an evil spirit that leads people to commit crime without remorse, without conscience, without any regard for human life. These criminals and offenders are demon-possessed, and they are capable of doing anything to cause further harm. A young girl full of life, full of future, is gone. And for what? A cellphone.

Kholeka’s death is not an isolated tragedy. It is a symptom of a broken system, a society where criminals walk free, where victims are left without justice, and where the punishment handed down to offenders bears no weight. The criminals of South Africa are not fully punished — and that culture of impunity breeds more violence, more death, more grief.

The death penalty must be brought back to South Africa to correct this injustice and bring true justice to the many lives destroyed by violent crime.

We call on every South African, every leader, every lawmaker, every person of conscience: Kholeka’s blood cries out for justice. She was a daughter, a young woman with a future, a life full of promise. She deserved to grow up. She deserved to be safe. She deserved justice — and she deserves it still.

Kholeka Kunene — we remember you. We honour you. And we will not be silent.
