Every year, the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) in Oregon sends out survey to 52,000 licensed motorists to find out how many have valid car insurance. While some may prefer not to return the survey out of fear of getting caught, others either can’t be bothered returning the form, or simply confuse it with all of the other junk mail they receive and toss it. Either way, their non-response could cost them their drivers licenses.
If citizens find themselves in receipt of a piece of mail resembling an official document from the Oregon DMV, they’d be wise to open it and return it promptly. Failure to return the motorist insurance survey will result in a one-time warning, and after that, their driving privileges will likely be suspended.
“An awful lot of Oregonians are finding themselves with suspended driver’s licenses which then have to be reinstated,” opines talk show host Lars Larson who tackles issues facing citizens in the Pacific Northwest. “That costs money. In some cases people find their cars being towed. They are being accused of crimes like ‘driving while suspended.’”
Larson adds, “It’s a ridiculous program and somebody needs to rescind it and let the DMV know that this is not good customer service and it is not solving any problems.”
