GE’s Jeffrey Immelt Crowned “King of Tax Cheats”

US Uncut announces Citizens Recall of GE Products due to Tax Evasion

Washington, DC – With increasing public attention focused on the issue of corporate tax evasion, General Electric CEO (and President Obama’s Job Czar) Jeffrey Immelt has emerged as the face of corporations not paying their fair share.

“Corporate executives are acting like an aristocracy in America with a ‘let them eat cake’ mentality towards paying their taxes,” said US Uncut CA organizer Joanne Gifford referring to Marie Antoinette’s famous phrase, “In this royal court, General Electric’s Jeffrey Immelt is King of the Tax Cheats, paying $0 on $5.1 billion in US profits. When’s Obama going to embrace his inner Robin Hood & make these tax cheats pay?”

A veteran and US Uncut supporter named Earl James heard the news about GE the same day he was notified that his VA benefits may be reduced due to budget cuts.

“While unemployed vets get squeezed in order for the VA to cut costs, I’m asked to sacrifice, but not GE? Is this the new set of priorities in our country: Tax Cheats over Veterans? It’s shameful,” said James, “I’ve been cut off after being unemployed 99 weeks now. Why not invest in jobs for veterans instead of letting tax cheats like Jeffrey Immelt get away with cheating our country? President Obama, I’m talking to you.”

“Immelt and his company make billions by not paying taxes, bloated executive pay and forcing employees out of jobs and benefits,” said US Uncut Mississippi organizer Carl Gibson. “Why is the king of tax cheats advising the President on job creation? If General Electric alone paid their fair share, then we could ‘uncut’ nearly $2 billion in job creation programs and veterans benefits (Job Corps, GSM, & Tri-Care).”

In response to the heightened public outrage, US Uncut is coordinating with the ‘Citizens Revenue Service’ to issue a nationwide citizens’ recall of General Electric products due to tax evasion. Activists have designed logos that say “Product recalled for tax evasion,” complete with the GE logo and the slogans “Imagination in Tax Evasion” and “We Bring Big Deficits to Life.” Coming to a Big Box store near you soon.

US Uncut is a rapidly growing grassroots movement that utilizes social media to stage public protests against corporate tax cheats and public service cuts. Recently, the month-old organization held protests in 40 cities across the country targeting Bank of America, Verizon and FedEx. Now, the group has joined calls made by former U.S. Senator Russ Feingold and others to demand that President Obama fire Immelt immediately.
