Changing America back to the country it used to be is a top priority for Mike Kelly.

The Republican congressional candidate — who is seeking to replace Democrat incumbent Kathy Dahlkemper in the Nov. 2 general election — told a Corry audience Wednesday night that leadership needs to change, especially for the sake of today’s youth.

“This is not the America that I know,” Kelly said. “What has happened to our country in the last 22 months is scary. We could very possibly turn this country over to the next generation in worse shape than what it is today.”

Two weeks after hearing Dahlkemper speak, Corry residents were invited to a student Town Hall Conversation featuring Kelly, an event that was also sponsored by members of the Corry Area High School History Club.

In the school auditorium, Kelly spoke on-stage and was asked student-submitted questions by a four-member panel of History Club members — co-project managers Ryan Gustafson and Michael Tomcho, Vice President Alivia Kusiak and Treasurer Cory Owens. Club President Ethan Redrup was the host and emcee.
