Riding the Waivers for Week 7

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Week six has come and past, and Bye weeks are now in full effect. If you aren’t winning your league by now you should probably just quit. No, not really. The beauty about Fantasy Football is that luck is a huge factor. You may be 2-4 right now but could be one injury away from owning that key player that helps you rattle off 8 straight victories. Can’t really say the same thing about Fantasy Baseball or Basketball.

Lets take a look at some players who are owned in less than 50% of Yahoo! Leagues that could come in handy during Week 7:

Josh Freeman – TB vs. NO (40% Owned)
Freeman is a really good quarterback… as long as he is playing a terrible defense. New Orleans certainly fits that mold. If you need a Bye week quarterback, then look no further.

Jeremy Kerley – NYJ @ NE (42% Owned)
The Patriots secondary is weak. Weak, I say! Just look at last week when Rookie Russell Wilson torched them for 293 yards without getting picked off once. Kerley should get plenty of targets this week.

Darrius Heyward-Bey – OAK vs. JAC (49% Owned)
DHB has seen his ownership drop due to his concussion, in addition to a slow start. Now is the time to buy low. A big game against Jacksonville just might be in the cards.

Vick Ballard – IND vs. CLE (34% Owned)
Daryl Richardson and Montario Hardesty are the hot pickups right now, but I don’t like either of their matchups. Vick Ballard, on the other hand, is going under the radar. The Colts won’t be getting blown out this week against the Browns, so the run game will return. This could be a big game for Ballard if he wants to prove he deserves more touches once Donald Brown returns from injury.

Danny Woodhead – NE vs. NYJ (28% Owned)
If you are desparate for a Bye Week filler then Woodhead has the potential here against Division foe, the NY Jets. The Patriots would love nothing more than to rub this one in, and it could be a blowout. Woodhead should be on the field a lot as the Patriots stay in the No-Huddle and run up the score.

Coby Fleener – IND vs. CLE (23% Owned)
Fleener has been my man all year, but he hasn’t really had a breakout game, yet. The Colts are at Home, the Browns are a below-average defense… perfect combination for a Tight End explosion.

Oakland Defense vs. Jacksonville (7% Owned)
We are really stretching deep here, but it’s all about matchups sometimes. The Jaguars have been successful on 37.7% of their passes this year. Easily the worst in the NFL. In comparison, the Falcons have a 56.5% pass success rate. This is really a close your eyes and hope for the best situation. Buffalo and Indy are a couple other defenses to consider for streaming this week.

==Last Week’s Recap==

Kevin Kolb – Didn’t throw for much but 66 yards on the ground was a nice surprise. In most leagues he did manage to outscore Flacco, Rivers, Schaub, Matt Ryan, and Eli Manning. Crazy world we live in.
Brandon Gibson – 91 yards and still available in most leagues. Go get him, yo.
Golden Tate – Only 47 yards for Tate so I won’t consider this a success. However, the deep targets continue to goto Tate, so keep your eye out for him. On the brightside, he managed to score as many fantasy points as Jamaal Charles.
Brandon Bolden – Bolden’s carries went down quite a bit thanks to his knee injury. Or maybe he is on his way out in New England. You just never know with them. It’s probably best to look for more reliable candidates moving forward.
LaRod Stephens-Howling – Got shut down, 11 carries for 22 yards. He was worth a pickup just in case but I’d say he seeled his fate with that performance.
Anthony Fasano – The favorable matchup worked out for Fasano as he snagged a touchdown on his way to 33 yards.
Miami Defense – 3 sacks, 1 fumble recovery and 14 points allowed. Not too shabby.
