Neglect In Sivanandapuram: RCP Slams Civic Infrastructure Failures

Kadapa – Andhra Pradesh: Rayalaseema Communist Party (RCP) State Secretary Ravi Shankar Reddy has strongly criticized the municipal authorities and the ruling governments for failing to provide basic civic amenities in Sivanandapuram’s 15th Division. During a visit on Sunday, he pointed to crumbling roads, broken drainage systems, and a dangerously unstable water tank as symbols of administrative apathy.

• Broken roads, incomplete drainage work anger residents

Ravi Shankar Reddy alleged that functional roads were destroyed unnecessarily in the name of underground drainage construction. However, the drainage work remains incomplete, further worsening the condition of the area. “They’ve broken good roads only to leave the work unfinished. What we have now is chaos, not development,” he said.

• Amrutha scheme work adds to infrastructure mess

Another road was reportedly dug up under the Amrutha scheme for laying a fresh water supply pipeline, compounding the problems for residents. However, the implementation has been riddled with flaws:

• Manholes are dangerously placed in the middle of the road

• Water pipelines are not aligned properly

• Drainage canals are clogged and unplanned

• Roads are lined with overgrown trees, adding to the disarray

• Unstable water tank poses serious risk

Reddy issued a strong warning about a surface water tank built for drinking water storage, stating it is already falling apart and could collapse at any moment. “The slats are already breaking off. If this tank collapses, there will be severe damage—possibly even loss of life. The authorities must act now,” he said, demanding its immediate removal.

The RCP leader accused civic officials of gross negligence and warned that continued inaction could lead to both property damage and public safety hazards. He called on the administration to prioritize public welfare and restore infrastructure before any further damage occurs.

• Local participation in the protest visit

RCP City Secretary Group members Madagalam Prasad, Lakshmi Devi, City Committee members Vijayakumar, Ravi, and several local residents participated in the inspection visit, voicing their anger over the civic mess and supporting demands for swift action.
