Houston Community College shields investigation report into potential conflicts of interest
The Houston Chronicle, which broke the news of the shenanigans last summer, writes that after they requested the investigation report, college officials first said there was no written report. Lo and behold, it seems one has turned up, but the college still wants to keep it in the dark, claiming attorney-client privilege.
The investigation, which the HCC board authorized in April 2010, involved former board member Abel Dávila and current trustee Yolanda Navarro Flores and their alleged relationship with construction companies that did work at the college.
Flores and an attorney for Dávila have denied wrongdoing.
Diana Dávila resigned from her position in July, saying she wanted to spend more time with her family.
The HISD bond committee is getting a remake, with new applicants asked to affirm they have no conflicts of interest.
