Mr. Netanyahu: Share Some Evidence That We Are Actually Preparing to
Evacuate Rafah

Prime Minister Netanyahu promised that we would go into Rafah after Hamas
responded to Israel’s retreat today from Khan Yunis with a five-rocket
barrage.

It could very well be that there is logic to the retreat and that Binyamin
Netanyahu will honor his promise to complete the war against Hamas in Rafah.

But talk is cheap.

The time has come, after months of talking, to share some credible evidence
that we are actually making the preparations to evacuate the civilians from
Rafah.

If we are actually making preparations, this is a relatively easy task.

Serious preparations aren’t just a bunch of maps with arrows.

Tents, sanitation, water-you name it.

If we are really putting together supplies for over a million people,
there’s a story for the media about the warehouses full of equipment or the
team scrambling to amass equipment from around the world.

There’s a story of complaints regarding whose budget is covering the
expenses and demands for extra funding.

And it doesn’t end with supplies for the over a million people being
instructed to walk to safety from Rafah.

There’s also a behind-the-scenes story about preparations to quickly screen
the over a million departing civilians so that the Hamas army doesn’t escape
from Rafah with the civilians. But it may be that, for operational reasons,
this needs to remain a secret.

But if Israel has hundreds of thousands of tents and huge quantities of
sanitary facilities to show, that’s hardly a military secret.

So, Mr. Netanyahu: with all my heart, I want to believe that this time you
are telling the truth. But you need to have your team do something to gain
our confidence that we won’t end up being fools for thinking that you
haven’t thrown in the towel.
