Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian, speaking to the General Assembly of the Islamic Association of the Medical Society of Iran, has called for an end to the ongoing conflict between Iran and the United States. He’s claiming that Iran is in a “position of strength.” That kind of dissembling is par for the course in Iran, but we might note that this is something new; calling for a peace deal when addressing a purely Iranian group. This isn’t posturing aimed at the United States and Israel; this happened in a speech to an Iranian audience.
