Enoch Lived In Atlantis

In the Book of Enoch – Noah’s Grandfather – Enoch wrote about a variety of subjects, including the heavens.  In one part, he describes the annual changes in the length of days and the relative balance between night and day.  Several passages cover the changing ratios between night and day throughout the year.

Enoch describes how the days lengthen as we move past the equal division of day and night (12 hours of daylight) at the spring equinox, telling us that at a certain point “On that day the day is longer than the night by a ninth part, and the day amounts exactly to ten parts and the night to eight parts.” (Enoch 72:10)   Next the ratio is 11 to 7.  (Daylight lasting 14 hours and 40 minutes.)  Finally at the summer solstice Enoch 72:14 says: “the day becomes double the night, and the day becomes twelve parts, and the night is shortened and becomes six parts.”  (Daylight is now 16 hours.)

The problem is that such a division between day and night is not possible anywhere near the latitude of Israel.  Jerusalem is approximately 31.72 degrees north of the equator.  As we can see on this chart of day length as a function of latitude:

A latitude of approximately 50 degrees north or south of the equator would be necessary for a division of the day into 16 and 8 hour sections.

this site confirms that Jerusalem has an absolute maximum of 14 hours and 13 minutes between sunrise and sunset on the longest day of the year.  Even the length of daylight hours specified by Enoch a full month ahead of the summer solstice is too long to be possible – at the latitude of Israel.

This means either Enoch was very specific yet very inaccurate – or that he was writing with a perspective nowhere near Israel.  His description is a better match for southern Canada, somewhere between the latitude of Quebec and Winnipeg. 

I have previously suggested that Enoch’s 365 year lifespan is a solar reference and that the breakdown of his life into 65 years before fatherhood, and 300 years after, could be a reference to solar zenith passages and could clue us in to the latitude the site of Jerusalem was at prior to the last pole shift when the North Pole was just west of Hudson Bay.  /prophecy/2014/10/enoch-and-elijah-witnesses-to-pole-shifts-2464786.html

Enoch was Noah’s grandfather, and would have written about the antediluvian world before the Great Flood… but the land now called Jerusalem was at approximately 11.5 degrees North latitude before the last pole shift.  Enoch apparently did not write from the perspective of Israel, even if we consider its previous position prior to the last pole shift.  Where might Enoch have been located before the last pole shift that was approximately 50 degrees latitude?

There is one other very interesting possibility that comes to mind: Atlantis.  If I were a college professor, writing about Atlantis would end my career.  But if we’re talking about pole shifts, Atlantis is the name we know for the great civilization that was destroyed in the last pole shift.  And according to some researchers, Antarctica was Atalntis.  Rand and Rose Flem-Ath suggest in their groundbreaking book: When the Sky Fell: In Search of Atlantis – that western or Lesser Antarctica (the part near Argentina) was a temperate land with a capital city approximately 50 degrees south of the old equator before the last pole shift.  They compare the capital city of Atlantis with London, as both are capitals of world dominating seafaring empires at similar latitudes.

Could Enoch ‘s description of the 2 to 1 balance of day and night (a maximum of 16 hours of day and 8 hours of night) have described the summer solstice in Atlantis?  It does not accurately describe the balance of day and night for Israel – but might it preserve a record from what was once the capital city of the most powerful empire before the Flood?

Enoch 77:8 describes what I believe are the seven continents from a unique perspective: “Seven great islands I saw in the sea and in the mainland: two in the mainland and five in the Great Sea.”

Now if I lived prior to the last pole shift on the island of what we now call Lesser Antarctica (which is icebound to Greater or East Antarctica and displayed as a single continent on modern maps, but in reality has a large sea between the two sections of Antarctica) and this was Atlantis, the dominant world empire – I would undoubtedly place my maps with my homeland on top of the world – much as Europeans have done.  We consider it natural to place Europe at the top center of a world map, and I assume anyone in Atlantis put what we call the South Pole at the top, just as the ancient Egyptians did.

Egyptian records also claim their “gods” were from a large island south of Egypt known as “the Homeland of the Primeval Ones.”  Sumerian gods came from an island in the south called Dilmun.  Aztecs said their ancestors came from a white island across the sea called Atzlan.  And “Ancient India’s Mahabaratha describes an ancient homeland of the gods where ‘The day and night together are equal to a year.’  In the Surya Siddhantha they clarify that many days elapse between the first light of dawn and the eventual appearance of the sunrise.  Antarctica fits these descriptions well.” (from page 189 of End Times and 2019)

So on my theoretical Atlantean map, the frozen wasteland of East Antarctica would be spread wide across the top much as Greenland is distorted on our maps (on a Mercator projection, Greenland appears as large as Africa but is really 1/13^th the size.)  The habitable “mainland” on my Atlantean map would be the nearby Americas – since Lesser Antarctica almost touches South America at the Straits of Magellan.  Enoch’s description of two continents on the mainland (North and South America) and five continents in the Great Sea makes more sense from this perspective.

From this perspective Israel would be below Atlantis, in the Atlantis map’s southern hemisphere.  This helps make sense of Enoch’s description of the south in Enoch 77:1 “the south, because the Most High will descend there, yea, there in quite a special sense will He who is blessed forever descend.”  This certainly sounds like the (for Enoch, the future) incarnation of Jesus Christ in Israel.

Enoch 80:5-6 describes a future problem in “the days of sinners” when “in those days the sun shall be seen and he shall journey in the evening on the extremity of the great chariot in the west and shall shine more brightly than accords with the order of light.  And many chiefs of the stars shall transgress the order (prescribed).  And these shall alter their orbits and tasks, and not appear at the seasons prescribed to them.”  I take this to be a description of a pole shift, in which the sun is seen at what were nighttime hours and the celestial bodies appear to move out of their normal paths in the sky.

Enoch 83:3-7 “I saw in a vision how the heaven collapsed and was borne off and fell to the earth.  And when it fell to the earth I saw how the earth was swallowed up in a great abyss, and mountains were suspended on mountains, and hills sank down on hills, and high trees were rent from their stems, and hurled down and sunk in the abyss… the earth: it must sink into the abyss and be destroyed with a great destruction.”

This is even more clear in verses many chapters earlier in Enoch 57:2 “the pillars of the earth were moved from their place, and the sound thereof was heard from the one end of heaven to the other, in one day.”  Also Enoch 60:16 “the sea is masculine and strong, and according to the might of his strength he draws it back with a rein, and in like manner it is driven forward and disperses amid all the mountains of the earth.”

So if Malachi Martin – or anyone else – wonders why the Book of Enoch was not included in the Bible – I assume it is because Enoch wrote about Atlantis and a pole shift.  Periodic cycles of destruction do not fit traditional interpretations of Christianity; such evidence will be swept under the rug.
