March Against Monsanto in Detroit

A world-wide call to action as a March Against Monsanto was heard by hundreds of locations, many of them here in the United States. Detroit rallied at Eastern Market with a program beginning at 10am. Hundreds of people gathered for the march and listened to the opening speakers. Speakers / Organizers for the event included:

All-ages were encouraged to participate as the event opened with a skit involving children dressed as bees interacting with adults in costume, several dressed as flowers and Mr Monsanto. We rooted for the bees to win and overcome Mr Monsanto, but we know our real life struggle is headed the other way. The “Revenge of the Bee Keepers” March Against Monsanto began around 11am and as it marched around Eastern Market the energy grew. By the time the march was headed north on Russell Street back to the gazebo it had picked up to approximately 600 people and stretched several blocks.
