Antonio Brown Rips Zay Flowers

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Yesterday on X, Antonio Brown went scorched-earth bellowing that Zay Flowers “fumbles too much,” that he “can’t hold water,” and that Flowers is the reason Lamar Jackson can’t win a championship.

This is the same Antonio Brown who, in Week 17 of the 2021 season, removed his jersey, shoulder pads, gloves, and shirt mid-game against the New York Jets and walked off the field while the game was still being played. The same man who, as of May 2024, had filed for bankruptcy listing $3 million in debts and just $50,000 in assets despite estimated career earnings of $80.7 million. Here are a few other run-ins with the law authored by the orator of the rant above:

In May 2025, Brown allegedly chased and fired two shots at a man he had just fought with outside a boxing event. The victim reported a graze wound to his neck. Afterwards, Brown fled to Dubai where U.S. Marshals tracked him down and brought him back to the U.S.

Later, Brown appeared in a Miami-Dade court and pleaded not guilty. His defense team filed a motion claiming he acted in self-defense. He is currently on pre-trial release with a GPS monitor.

And there’s more…

In 2020, Brown faced felony burglary with battery and two misdemeanor charges after a dispute with a moving truck driver. He pleaded no contest and received two years of probation, 100 hours of community service, and was mandated to complete anger management and psychological evaluations. How’s that working out?

In January of 2020, Antonio Brown threw penis-shaped gummy candies during a dispute with his ex-partner, Chelsie Kyriss, outside his Hollywood, Florida home. The incident was captured on an Instagram Live video, where he threw the gummies, yelled at her, and cursed at the responding police officers.

And probably not last, most probably not least, Brown has also been the target of multiple civil lawsuits and sexual assault/rape allegations over his career.

So, let’s consider the source, shall we.

But for a moment, let’s turn our attention towards the field because we know off the field, Zay isn’t the fruit loop that Brown is.

First Three Seasons: An Apples-to-Apples Look

This is the only fair comparison. Brown had a terrific career on the field until the day his cheese finally slid right off his cracker. Flowers is still building one. So, let’s compare the first three years of each man’s NFL life.

Antonio Brown had 151 catches for 2,062 yards and scored 9 touchdowns in 38 games across his first three seasons. He was a sixth-round dart throw out of Central Michigan who spent his first two years as a reserve and a returner. He was good. He was not yet elite.

Zay Flowers, through his first three NFL seasons, has compiled 237 receptions for 3,128 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns across 50 games.

Read that again. 237 catches to 151. 3,128 yards to 2,062. 14 touchdowns to 9. Through three seasons, it isn’t close. Flowers, the 22nd overall pick out of Boston College, has already lapped the version of Antonio Brown that existed at the same point in his career.

Moreover, Flowers is the fastest player in Ravens franchise history to reach 3,000 receiving yards, doing so in just 50 games. That’s not a Zay Flowers stat. That’s a franchise record.

Season-by-Season Breakdown

As a rookie in 2023, Flowers had 77 catches for 858 yards and 6 touchdowns in 16 games. Those were Ravens franchise records for a first-year wide receiver.

In 2024, Flowers recorded 82 receptions for 1,050 yards and 8 touchdowns, becoming the Ravens’ leading wide receiver. He was rewarded with his first Pro Bowl selection — becoming the first wide receiver in Ravens history selected to a Pro Bowl as a wide receiver.

In 2025, Flowers had 86 receptions for 1,211 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns in 17 games, averaging 14.1 yards per catch. He earned his second consecutive Pro Bowl nod and ranked among the league’s top 10 in receiving yards.

As a result of that production, the Ravens picked up his fifth-year option worth $27.29 million, keeping Lamar Jackson’s most potent receiving weapon in Baltimore through at least the 2027 season. Pro Football Network

About That Fumble

Since AB wants to make ball security his hill to die on, let’s go to the tape — or more precisely, to NFL.com and Pro Football Reference — and put some numbers behind the noise.

According to NFL.com’s career stats, Zay Flowers has 3 fumbles and 3 fumbles lost across 50 career regular-season games. In his first two NFL seasons — 33 games, 151 catches, 1,917 yards — Flowers did not fumble once in the regular season. NFL

Now let’s look at the man doing the lecturing.

Per NFL.com’s career stats page, Antonio Brown fumbled 15 times and lost 6 of them across his 146-game career. That includes 8 fumbles on punt returns alone, reflecting the full scope of his ball-handling responsibilities. Looking at just his first three seasons — the apples-to-apples window — Brown fumbled once in 2010, zero times in 2011, and four times in 2012, losing two of them.

So, in their comparable first three NFL seasons, Flowers had zero regular-season fumbles to Brown’s five. And over their full NFL careers to date, Flowers has fumbled 3 times in 50 games. Brown fumbled 15 times over 146 games — a rate of roughly one fumble per 9.7 games. Flowers, through his career, has fumbled once every 16.7 games.

The playoff fumble against the Chiefs was real, it was costly, and it will follow Flowers for as long as the Ravens fall short of a Super Bowl. That’s fair. But AB calling out Flowers for fumbling “too much” is a man in a glass house loading up a cannon. Brown fumbled 8 times on punt returns over his career — more times than Flowers has fumbled in his entire NFL existence, regular season and postseason combined. That’s the actual record. NFL

The football didn’t lie then. It doesn’t lie now.

AB on the other hand, lies just about every time he opens his pie hole.

The Bottom Line

Through three seasons, Zay Flowers has already outproduced the first three years of Antonio Brown by almost every measurable standard. He has done it as a first-round pick at a franchise that desperately needed him to produce, in a run-first offense, while absorbing every safety, every bracket coverage, and every scheme designed to take him out of the game.

Antonio Brown’s six-year peak from 2013 to 2018 — averaging 114 receptions, 1,524 yards, and 11 touchdowns per season — was rivaled only by Jerry Rice himself. That is real. That is historical. That is deserving of a Hall of Fame conversation. The Animal House

But that version of Brown has nothing to do with this conversation. The version conducting TikTok rants in June 2026 is a man watching a young, hungry Ravens receiver become exactly the player Brown always told everyone he was — and struggling to process it.

Zay Flowers is 25 years old. He has two consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. He has two Pro Bowls. He has a franchise record that will stand for a generation. He doesn’t need Antonio Brown’s blessing. And he certainly doesn’t need his noise.

Some legacies are built on brilliance.

Others unravel one social media post at a time.
