Caitlin Clark highlights Fever’s shortcomings in tough loss to Dream
Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever saw their four-game losing streak come to a bitter end on Thursday night at the hands of the Atlanta Dream.
Clark tried her very best to carry her team to victory, but the two-time All-Star still came up short. She finished with a team-high 26 points (tied with Kelsey Mitchell) on 8-of-17 shooting. Clark added two rebounds, seven assists and two triples. Despite her efforts, Indiana still suffered defeat at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, 108-101.
The Fever dropped to 9-6 after Thursday’s disappointing loss. They are now 1.5 games behind the Dream for the No. 2 spot in the Eastern Conference.

Caitlin Clark assesses Indiana Fever’s loss to Atlanta Dream
Clark joined Mitchell on the podium after the loss. One of the questions she was asked centered on Indiana’s shortcomings on the evening.
Clark pointed to the Fever’s lack of fight in their transition defense. She also called out her team’s inability to take care of the ball throughout the contest.
“I think in transition, they got easy ones, and then I think they had however many fast break points, 17, so that probably that right there contributed to it,” Clark said. “And points off turnovers. I thought a lot of times that’s probably on us guards getting into the ball a little bit better, so we don’t have to rotate.”
Another glaring issue for the Fever was their failure to stop their opponents from making shots.
“Essentially, everybody on their team shot over 50%,” Clark continued. “It’s really hard to win a basketball game when that’s the case.”
As a unit, the Dream made 37-of-69 shots on the evening for 53.6%.
Angel Reese had her way in the paint on both ends of the floor. The two-time WNBA All-Star knocked down eight of her 14 attempts for 21 points. Reese also grabbed 11 rebounds in another all-around effort.
The good news for Clark and the Fever is that they will get a chance to make things right in two days. These two teams take the court again on Saturday at State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
Clark and Co. have identified what went wrong on Thursday night, and they will need to make the necessary adjustments for their upcoming rematch.
